TN: 2018 Maître de Chai Zinfandel Stampede

  • 2018 Maître de Chai Zinfandel Stampede - USA, California, Central Valley, Clements Hills (10/30/2020)
This is the the antithesis of the stereotype of the Lodi Zin. The new generation of Lodi. Sour cherries, junipers, lightness in the step, delicate, cloaked. And putting my cheesy hat on: it’s like a veiled woman that just gives you a peek of her beautiful features, but not the full view. No detectable oak and only 12.8% ABV. I just keep wanting more, drinking it in big gulps, can’t get enough.

This is from the hillier east side of Lodi, Clements Hill AVA. Stampede vineyard is the Perlegos family vineyard and old vines, I think older than 100 years and dry farmed, if I recall correctly.

You guys need to try this. Crazy QPR. (93 pts.)

Great wine. I said if Yvon Metras made Zin it would last like this. And Marty and Alex are outstanding guys.

Wow, killer note, very enticing to hear these commence. And see the ABV on the Zin.

And I get that Metras reference.
