What do you think about Jura wines?
I personally Love them!
Thoughts about Jura wines…
Love them
Rarely drink them
Wish I would have bought more Ganevat les vignes de mon pere when they were $100 and more Ganevat period
Wish the Domain de Miroirs were cheaper
I need more Overnoy
Great food wines
…I should drink some Jura wine!
I have just bought 30 of ganevat wine and there is 1 vigne de mon pere included i love his wine
There is some good conversation here:
Big fan here as well, guessing that I drink more Jura than any other region.
Love the whites from Jura. All types.
It is the biggest category in my small collection.
They just hit a nerve that I really love. On top of that most of them are made with less noticeable oak usage which i appreciate.
sold Tissot for quite some time, I don’t get the appeal, I find them unique, but not a style I seek out
Welcome @AlessioAlmici
I love them too. Will even be traveling there in April hopefully.
Good for you on the VdMP. I get a good range of allocations here and there but I haven’t seen a bottle of that in a long time.
Paging @Phil_T_r_o_t_t_e_r
Also, you must have a meal at Saba in Annecy.
I love white jura wine from domaine des murmures, i had the opportunity to taste his savagnin 2 times and it is amazing, its tough to drink cause of the price, i had to sell some bottles to drink it cause rn i am in the university and i dont have any money=)
But it worth it.
Will you go to the forum at the end of march?
He was paged a few weeks ago! Hopefully we can meet.
@AlessioAlmici No. I was not able to get to Europe earlier as I’m teaching classes this year. I have a confirmed visit with Houillon/Bruyere though and then I’ll see what happens when I get there. Are you going?
Thanks for the recco. We’ll be there this spring
Yea prices are sadly pretty high on some of the new unicorn wines these days. A domaine like Murmurs is a good example of something that went from rather unknown to unicorn at the blink of an eye.
I don’t hunt those unicorns personally as I can still buy wines from winemakers like Labet and Ganevat at more stable (though higher) prices.
Was I? Holy crap I’m getting old… PM me your dates if you want to meet up. My April is pretty crazy but hopefully we find a date where we can share a piece of bread and a cup of wine.
I haven’t tried Saba yet but @Patrick_Taylor swears by it!
A couple of cavistes to visit if you want:
Java des Flacons has a nice assortment:
https://www.lajavadesflacons.com/
And Terres d’origine where the owner is just an all around great guy and passionate wine dude. However, his selection is mostly international which is great for me but might not be what a visitor to France is looking for:

We had a good meal at Cozna (directly in front of Saba) in case Saba is full.
Bon pain Bon vin is a quaint little wine bar/bistro. Great place to grab something off hours as they are open all day. “Tapas” approach with small portions on the menu and a short wine list of mostly unknown and new wave producers that changes frequently. I’ve tried some interesting things there. They also have bottles not on the list.
La Rotonde des Trésoms is a 1 star Michelin which I enjoyed (some hits, some misses) but my wife didn’t. It’s mostly fish and seafood based as the chef uses local products from the lake and products from where he grew up (bassin d’Arcachon). Set menu, nothing à la carte. Decent wine list with (when I was there) a lot of Belluard way below market prices. However, at that time, the somm also told me they were letting go of a lot of allocations.
As always, and I’m sure you know this, stay away from the big restaurants in Old Annecy. Mostly tourist traps serving fondue with mediocre charcuterie and below average cheese. But they also have tough bavette with frozen French fries.
Some restaurants allow BYO but you have to call in advance, ask to talk to the owner or manager and speak decent French.
Yes I will go there, im so excited to try Kenjiro kava i cause I never drank it
Me too, are you buying directly from the producers?
Never been, but I’ve been in Compton Kokague in Mouchard, fantastic Restaurant, it’s a fusion between Japanese and French cousine,
I’ve been there for a birthday with some jura ANC’s champagne producers,it was amazing
Apparently that’s what the fusion between Japanese and French cousines would look like:
I expected worse !
Ahahahaah not bad at all
For cousine I meant kitchen, my bad
