The Great Durand Cork Remover

At least you figured it out. I had a Barolo from 2000, was quite keen on impressing a friend. I spare myself the full embarrassment but it ended with reverting to an old fashion corkscrew that time.

For me it’s often a problem of not remembering that, for example, a 2002 is now over 20 years old.

Exactly. I mean, if I bought it on release, it can’t be that old, right?

I’m looking at you, 1995…

There are two patents. I’m not sure why the PTO figures that they expire in 2026. They were granted in 2007 and I thought patents were good for only 17 years.

That changed in 1995 to 20 years from filing.

I’m still trying to come to terms with the fact that people born in the early 2000’s are old enough to legally drink wine.

This is why it would be dangerous for me to reinstate my active bar membership.

Just wait till Tom posts that he can’t get his Durand to work on a screw cap.

I am from the time when pencils with erasers were high tech. Sharpening a pencil was easier than dealing with the folks on this board.

Perhaps, but were you any good at clapping the erasers?

Well next time you are in Minneapolis you can stop by this house. They have a sharpener you can use…
