Been loving the Bardstown Discovery series. I have 10-12 and all are stellar. Tough for even highly allocated stuff to compete.
Their collab stuff has been good too (Amrut, silver oak, foursquare, etc)
How is their Plantation Rum cask finished bourbon? Anyone had it?
Has anyone tried the Russell’s Reserve 15 year?
MSRP was 250 but I’ve seen it as much as 715.
Haven’t tried but the rave reviews are really driving it up.
It’s stellar. Very clearly some much older stuff in there than 15 year too.
715 wow that’s too much from what I heard; passed on it for 400 and do regret it at that price
Running between 475 and 575 in the Pac NW trade sites.
Haven’t had the 15 but the 13 is best bourbon I’ve had. I had several pours while at the WT distillery and would have been content staying there for the remainder of the day having a few more. It’s around $300 so more reasonable too.
K&L has the Wild Turkey 12 (Japanese export) for $150 right now. It’s not RR13, but it’s also a fraction of the price
Huh, surprised they can get that. Picked up one in Japan last year and it is excellent, especially at the Japanese retail price ($60 or so I think?)
Grey market - they also get european blantons.
Is it on auction? It’s not showing up in the shop search.
Ah, looks like sold out now. Was here- Wild Turkey 12 Year Old 101 proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Japanese Export) (700ml) - SKU 1808130
Picked up a RR15 (2024) when it first came out as part of a bundle for a little over MSRP ($325). I wouldn’t say its my all-time favorite pour, but definitely really enjoyable, nonetheless.
K&L ha an interesting pre-arrival a month or two back (they have more, but waiting for it to arrive before putting back online). It’s a frankenstein - Wild Turkey basically contracted Buffalo Trace to make a bourbon for them (Wild Trace mashbill, but distilled at BT, uses Buffalo Trace yeast/fermenatation/entry proof etc).
I believe it was 15 years, pre arrival price was $199 - K&L Liquors 15 Year Old "Every Drop" Batch No. KY-01-25 Barrel Proof Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml) - SKU 1803133
These have been popping up a lot lately across different labels. Picked a similar one up from a local shop and it’s really good (Elkwood Reserve). Feedback on these has generally been that there is a high level of volatility in quality.
Five+ years since this post, but I bought and enjoyed a new bottle of Old Ezra 7 year this weekend. It’s really great, but with a touch of initial heat. When I see it, I’ll keep buying.
