Found this show when cleaning a HD
Back in December of 2011 these were at the manager’s desk
IIRC, I bought one for a board member and shipped it to NYC
I always forget how good WT101 is until I take southwest. One of the best things about that airline is that they always stock WT101 bc it was the founder’s favorite bourbon.
101 is always a good deal, both Rare Breed are excellent too.
I love their rye too.
Almost didn’t turn around to get back to the liquor store after I passed it up tonight. Got my bottle of Gin and then of course Checked out the bourbon section. in an unmarked box on the floor there were two of these left in it. I give props for their low key selling style lately.
I took one and hope the next person is as excited as I was when they find the last one.
Popping this weekend for sure
(Sorry I know/forgot there is a Rye thread )
Funny, i grabbed one of those tonight also! Not easy to come by.
Which store do you go to?
I do go all around, but there is One left in Lyndhurst, I bet it’s still there if you get there early. They have stacked boxes on the end and it’s in an open not obvious one on the floor…
Nice Brad, I was stoked…pretty hard to find stuff in the wild here these days
I’ve seen some Weller around but…
Picked up a Little Book, which I haven’t seen for years either and they had 2 cases.
WLW107 is definitely worth MSRP, even if I saw all that SR at MSRP I’d pass.
107 is around again too after being fairly dry for awhile. Not cases but bottles though and price is up to $60 after tax.
We seem to be the dumping ground for Weller for some reason. They just give it to us instead of spreading around the country
Sazerac doesn’t generally reduce a States allocation, hence you see tons of Weller SR 1.75L in TX for instance. If a State turns it down you can move it around, or at least I used to, but that rarely happened and especially not with WLW 107, FP, etc…EH Taylor, or Eagle Rare and Blanton’s.
Is Booker part of that deal. That would explain why this store bought that many cases. 10 casss of Weller, 4 Sazerac, 2 Booker (100$ now!), 2 - 6 bottle cases of Little Book.
That would make sense…they bought the whole profile when I walked in. I’ll swing by this week and see what’s left
Interesting that they had no 107 though…
Sazerac is flush here too…we get it but it’s usually a couple of years between drops.
Have had quite a few interesting bottles lately! I continue to LOVE Nashville Barrel Company (NBC), which picks barrels (primarily MGP, but a lot of their early stuff was Willett) and then either sells the barrels (keeping a few to resell/include in their library) or bottles them themselves and sells. We visited in-person as part of my 50th bday trip and I’d recommend a stop if you’re in the Nashville area. You can also buy online and have it shipped… which is great for WA.
Other guy I’ve been trying is Barrel King. He took a page out of the BBA stout books, purchasing MGP juice and then finishing it in leftover high-end bourbon barrels. I’m drinking through one that was finished in Stagg Jr, as well as another that was finished in a mix of Weller OWA, EC 18 and something else.
No Booker. BT, Eagle Rare, Blanton’s, Saz Rye, Weller, Benchmark are the baseline Bourbons. For some States EH Taylor Small Batch sneaks in from a historical allocation perspective, I used to get a few hundred cases per release in WA for instance.
Have you seen anything rare lately (bourbon) that would make a good holiday gift for my husband?
I normally shop at Pat O’Brien’s in Pepper Pike but will travel…
I ordered this for him yesterday. Not sure how much this was originally, but I was seeing it for a lot more at other stores. He likes rye.
That’s a good choice and a good price : )
Yeah, that’s great bottle and the one I mentioned up thread, he should love that.
If you have the time, I would go to world wines and liquor in Northfield on a Tuesday. They are an under the radar place that has had some limited release stuff lately.
If you go to any Giant Eagle they will have a sign up to tell you what the current week release will be statewide. Problem is you have to wait in line at 6 am Saturday to get theirs and I won’t do that. Michters 10 Bourbon and Rye was last week and I would have loved that one.
It looks like there is a big bottle release of 12/9.
Is it going to be a total shitshow everywhere?
