Eric LeGrand just launched a bourbon. Saw it In Costco yesterday for $33. $5.20 goes to the Christopher Reeve foundation for every bottle sold
Looks like $5.20 for every case vs. bottle.
Curious who he is getting liquid from, not sure why in this day and age that isn’t one of the first things told.
Eric LeGrand Bourbon is distilled in Owensboro, Kentucky and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky.
Green River?the donation part is my misinterpretation
That’d be my guess since Bardstown bought Green River.
I’ve tried Booker’s 25th anniversary and loved it!
Anyone tried the Bardstown ‘Discovery’ line? Or tried Found North?
Tried a couple of Discoveries. #3 and #8. Both were excellent. At about $150 though, probably better options to consider. Their new “Origin” series is excellent. The B.I.B. in particular was excellent. We tried all three from the barrel back in March.
I went home to TN for the Will Hoge concert on Saturday night in Johnson City and spent about an hour with my sister before the show. My niece is a rising sophomore cheerleader at FU and my sister happened to ask me about this particular bottle. I didn’t know anything about it, but my sister had the specs. It’s a 3 year bourbon whiskey from a distiller in Virginia. Perhaps the distiller is a FU grad. Not sure. Funny coincidence…
Doesn’t get mentioned much but as much as its Tennessee Whiskey its also Bourbon, the current lineup of Jack Daniel’s is one of the best deals out there…Jack Bonded, Triple Mash, Single Barrel Whiskey and Rye Barrel Proof, 10 year old, and 12 year old.
Grabbed a couple each of 10 and 12 year…one 10 broke in shipping, , and a 12 year had a crack in the neck, so opened it and put it thru strainer just in case.
Another killer new release, Batch 01…banana bread and caramel with a hit of toasty oak. Palate isn’t as much banana, but definitely like the proof and age. Killer bottle if you see it.
I’ve had the Triple Mash, very good and around $40 for a 700ml. The blend is 60% of their rye, 20% of the Tennessee Whiskey, and 20% Malt Whiskey, bottled in bond, 100 proof
The Bonded was #1 ranked in Whiskey Advocate and around $35
I have a 10 year that I was able to grab at a decent price, haven’t tried it yet but only have seen the 12 at secondary which is $300-$400 here in NJ. No thanks
They announced that SBBP Rye and Whiskey will be normal items now. For the price I’d take multiples vs Jack12 at that price.
Hey Tony, you trading me for that 10yr was greatly appreciated. We really enjoyed it for its unique take on JD. While I would love to try the 12, there’s no way I can imagine an extra 2 years is what Jack needs.
Imo the Barrel Proof elevates it more so and I’m happy to hear the Rye might be a regular as well, which was previously a unicorn.
For those of you in PA, good amount of EC BP out there in the state stores.
Just looked at Idaho Liquor board site and JD BP Whiskey and Rye is in stock and on sale for $58.95, will go grab a couple.
Headed to Louisville and Nashville this weekend! Will stop at Nashville Barrel co, which has been one of my favorites lately,. Next day, we’ll head to Willett for lunch at the bar (one of Sean Brock’s protégé’s is the exec chef, so super excited), Heaven Hill for a bottle-your-own experience and then Michters on Sunday. Am really excited to do the HH trip, as I went through an ECBP phase for a good 18 months and love the overall portfolio. Michter’s doesn’t appear to do the Legacy Tastings when we’re there, which sucks immensely - it’s my hands-down favorite distillery.
Taking a pass completely on Buffalo Trace. If we have free time, we’ll try and crash old Forrester. Will post pics if I see anything exciting. Regardless, I’m just happy I’m celebrating my 50th with a couple of buddies and a whole lot of bourbon
Jealous
Willett’s restaurant is outstanding, shockingly so based on my one meal there (and they have some great pours of well-aged Willett single barrels as well). If you have time to hit the bar at Bardstown Bourbon Co, I highly recommend it - insane list of rareties by the oz, and smart staff who know the list well and can help you choose. Have fun!
Think I would make a point of hitting 4 Roses. OldFo is a great shout too, both are on top of the whiskey game.
