The Bourbon Thread

Having a dram of '15 OFBB tonight. I’ll cut to the chase. It’s not great, quite harsh actually. Don’t get the hype and hunt for this bottle every fall.

I’m confused are you inferring this liquor opened up?

I do believe he is Ron. I feel most of my Willett Bourbons especially, and many agree, start to shine after being open over a month. Some start to degrade pretty rapidly, like a a 20 yr Rye Royal Japanese export I have open. Delicious on day 1…after a month, not so much.

I think most bourbons open up with time in the bottle. Scotch too. I much prefer my Islay scotch after its been open a few weeks. Brandy sometimes does but sometimes degrades.

I quite liked last year’s version, the only one that I’ve had though.

Lol, I actually didn’t like '14 OFBB either. Maybe just my palate.

Completely agree. Several times have not been impressed with a bottle when initially opened, only to be pleasantly surprised in a month or so.

Looks like I struck out getting any BTAC this year. If anyone scored any extras PM me!

Spoke too soon. Got a call this morning that my LWS had a GTS with my name on it!

Drinking some Angels Envy Rye I just picked up at Total Wine. Man this stuff is good.

Thinking I should post wholesales for BTAC and PVW seeing the obnoxious prices people ask for these on CC, not consumers who probably paid for scarcity, but ITB folks reselling them at ridiculous mark ups vs. wholesale.

Do you really think the ITB are selling them here vs. retail?

I see an ITB posting over there right now…I find it far fetched to believe an ITB retailer went out and paid top dollar for them to resell them on WB vs. them selling their allocation or their stores. Annoying to see a $150 bottle being offered for $1100, when BT has suggested retail and a place to report price gouging.

Oh. I didn’t see anyone with an ITB tag.

I think everyone looking for BTAC and PVW knows the MSRP. Wholesale price would be interesting tho.

Willett pot still bourbon 1.75 liter for $88 at BevMo. Love it and Blanton’s.

Stopped in a local restaurant today before the Cavs game and noticed they got their allocation of Pappy. Upon asking what a pour of the 20 cost i was told in a way that I should be grateful it was only $150. I don’t think they much appreciated my laughter.

Maybe they’re pouring into a Big Gulp size tumbler?

Picked up a Rip Van Winkle 10yr and a 2015 Four Roses LE Small Batch today. Celebrating with a pour of ER10 store pick

'15 4RLESmB is so good this year. I think as good or better than '13. Just a fantastic pour. Complete bourbon…complex, well rounded, velvet caramel with a touch a welcome oak.
