The Bourbon Thread

Willett Rye - which year? 2, 6, 7, 8 or maybe the 25.

Pretty new to bourbon. Did a Beer, Bourbon and BBQ event in DC last year. Had a lot of fun although it was hot that you basically sweat out all of the alcohol immediately.

I enjoy Bulleit for an everyday bourbon and Woodford Reserve as a nicer drink.

I go to the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ in Charlotte, NC every year - fun event!

Definitely a fun event. I think we are going to do one in May of next year so it will be a little cooler out. It was a little difficult to enjoy the last one with 90+ degree heat while walking around on asphalt.

Four Roses Sb Limited hit in NJ, if that helps anyone.

Apologies if this has been discussed here previously, but is anyone familiar with Belle Meade? I had it for the first time a couple wks ago in DC and really liked it. Doesn’t seem to be available anywhere my area, however.

According to Bourbonr, BTAC landed in SoCal yesterday. Anyone get lucky?

Its the two year rye, so im guessing its nothing special at $40

BTAC came and went in a few hours in Chicagoland

Willett rye: no, the 2 year is great. They just get better with age.

Every time I get my hands on Willett rye of any age they have a quick death in a manhattan barage…
Love em.

Willett Rye : this 2 year-old is the first rye distilled at Willett. The others have been sourced (obviously very well). Considering how great this 2 year-old tastes we will have much anticipated ryes from them as their casks age in the rick houses. Next year should be a 4 or 5 year-old.

So you guys are saying this is worthwhile at $40, is it overly spicy ? not a huge fan of very spicy ryes of course this is a limiting factor for me in drinking rye

landed at total wines in socal friday

David, Belle Meade is very nice stuff, relatively easy drinking, but worth noting that it is purely sourced from MGP at this point (like many many others).

Old Forester Signature 100 proof has become my daily drinker the past few months. It handles 1 ice cube really well. For $22, I much prefer it to 4 Roses yellow label.

Any opinions on the Ghosted Reserve 26 yo?

Weller 12 is still not available in my area or in SoCal but I see it online at various places from $100-150. Elmer T Lee is not available either.
Interesting bourbons of late include Clyde May’s (both the 85 proof and the 110 proof), Blade and Bow, Bib and Tucker and Pinhook. The Wyoming Whiskey is also quite good.
The Elijah Craig 18 remains outstanding.

W12 and ETL are no longer shelf bourbons in SoCal. They come in on occasion but are usually held back behind the counter, like something allocated which is quite ridiculous.

I thought the new version of EC18 was just ok. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought it was good, not great. Maybe my palate or it just needs air.

'15 4RLESmB came and went in hours at TW with one per person.

Four Roses makes a great bourbon. One of my favorites.

Sipping on some Weller 12 tonight. Now that this bottle has been open for a couple months, this is really starting to shine. I’ve had the Lot B, and yes it’s good, but this is not far behind at all. Glad I still have a couple bottles.
