The Best $50 Bottle of Red Burgundy

Give or take $5. Any other DJ heads concur?

Very tough to beat at this price point.

$50 for that? Naw. I prefer Cathiard Bourgogne any day.

I’d go with Faiveley Mercurey Clos des Myglands, though in my neighborhood it’s over the limit now. It’s still under $55 on WS.

I really enjoy Didier Fornerol’s CDN red which you can usually purchase for $40-$45.

Domaine Arlaud Roncevie is a favorite of mine

Lafouge Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Les Duresses Rouge comes to mind. Newer bottles are a little over $50, older, for some reason seem to go for less, like the 2010, which is drinking well now.
@Andrew_K I don’t think you can find the Cathiard at that price point these days–same for Bachelet’s which I was going to mention.

I don’t have the Burgundy knowledge of those here, but I was really impressed with the Barthod Bons Batons. Slightly over $50 though.

D-J might be my answer.

The Lumpp Givrys are up there.

Faiveley Mercurey is a strong answer too. Perfect bistro wine all the time.

That’s what I paid for my case of 2022 this year. It’s been flat for a few years now.

A $50 bistro wine (pre-tariff) is an oxymoron.

Lowest price in US on WS is $99.

Just opened another Regis Bouvier Les Longeroies Vielles Vignes from 2021 and that wine hits right around $50 and deserves a spot on this list. Give it a few hours of air, and it really develops into something special.

Agreed. Opened the 2022 last night- my first encounter ever with that wine. It was nice at first- a bit grapey though. And then a few hours later it filled out and got really serious. A first rate Bourgogne and one that needs a little age to show its best. Qualitatively, definitely on par with Roumier and Dugat IMHO- both of which cost a lot more.

DJ rully en guesnes was 50 recently; that would be my pick.

My vote would be the Ramonet Bourgogne Red. I just paid a little under $50/btl for the 2020.

2022 Jessiaume Santenay 1er Cru Gravieres is a great bottle.

The Beaune Cent Vignes is also tasty.
I’ll add M&P Rion Bon Batons to the list.

I wish I had more experience :sob: with the wines listed so far.

What I have and love right now is:
2019 Richoux Irancy ‘Veaupessiot’

Great so then my suggestion wouldn’t fit in the “best Burgundy you can buy today in the US for $50” thread.
