The .375 thread

LOL I did that and now have no more room for more racks!

This is my “retirement cellar.” I have laid in all the long maturing reds I expect to need (which is why I am not buying 16s or 17s) – at least 750s. So it is stuffed to the gills ATM. The only solution of course is to start drinking more 750s, at which point I can replace some of that racking with 375s

I picked up some lovely Cab Franc blends from Virage winery on Berserker day in 375 ml. Very tasty stuff.

Neal,

Not sure whether you like chianti, but a board favorite, Felsina, is available in 375.
Specifically the 2015 reserva is available at Saratoga Wine Exchange and Wine Library for approx $24/bottle.
I bought a dozen myself.

Goal this year is to buy more 375’s.

What are your up to date suggestions?

Mid term cellar and near-term / daily drinkers please.

ETA: Any history of these on BD?

Krug :joy:

Already ordered a case.

I had the same thought last year and will probably continue acquiring some 375s this year. Frog’s Leap offers much of their portfolio in 375 and I thought their '18s showed well across the board. I like their Shale and Stone chard as an inexpensive, solid daily drinker. Also look for sales from Inglenook, as I’ve seen them offer their regular cab 375s at 50% off several times. These also have some age - 2013 ad 2014 were available last time I bought. Mentioned it elsewhere, but I’ve also had good luck with NV Veuve Fourny champ in 375, again at the daily drinker end of the spectrum. I haven’t had one yet, but also bought a case of '16 Cantemerle 375s at nice pricing based on the nice CT notes.

I gave Ridge Geyserville 2019 and Vina Tondonia 2007 as gifts this Christmas in 375. The Ridge in particular I wish I’d stashed a couple away for myself.

Any Scherrer with the Zins being terrific.

Yes and with the incredibly affordable shipping, it’s a no-brainer for sure.

Did you buy the Ridge Geyserville direct or at retail? Didn’t see them on Ridge’s website.

At retail here in 'Bama.

These are what i use

In the last year we’ve moved to buying a lot of 375s for general drinking when we don’t want to go through a whole bottle (we noticed that wines that we don’t finish on day 1 often don’t get finished, not because we don’t like them, just because we move on to something else or don’t feel like wine the next day or are eating something that would clash with it).

So I’ve been buying quite a lot of 375s lately on wine.com with the coupons/cashback combinations that you can find here in the best deals thread. Some bottles that I found there from the last year that have proven to be good to tremendous values - I don’t remember the exact pricing but after coupons/cashback all of them except the Hirsch were under $15:
2016 Muga Reserva
2015 La Rioja Alta Viña Alberdi
2012 La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza
2019 Dr Loosen Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Kabinett
2017 Keenan Merlot
2018 Hirsch San Andreas Fault Pinot Noir
2018 Blackbird Vineyards Arise
2018 J Lohr Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon
2018 Au Bon Climat Chardonnay

This may be well known but for California wines, Half Wit Wines seems to have a reasonable selection. I’ve not purchased from them myself but certainly will be considering it as I like many others find that 2 glasses is perfect for a work night.

I used to buy from Half Wit once in a while but stopped due to receiving too many prematurely over-the-hill wines. Made me think either their sourcing or storage isn’t great.

I’ve been on the hunt for 375’s lately, but the best QPR deal I found was to buy a case from my local QFC (Kroger) of Duckhorn Merlot for $18.75 a bottle. They are screw tops to, for easy open and seal.

WTSO has been offering 375s of Angela Pinot Noir, made by Ken Wright for the owners of Angela Winery.
It is upper-middle level WV Pinot with rounded edges, though not much sense of individual terroir.
