Astrid for the win!

There are still 4-5 bottles…! The remaining bottles are a little hidden amongst the adjacent ones, it’s not winery direct and ends in 7, so probably no one else (besides you guys) will buy it.

I’d forego the $20 savings so as not to be forced to look at the shiite label.

We always chuckle how this is a collaboration with a famous designer, and it’s the ugliest Champagne bottle you ever see.

I don’t mind the label. As silly as maybe this will sound, we don’t drink the label.

You know how scraped up my labels get from my cellar. Under the cork is about all I care about.

2008 Lanessan has popped back up at $30 from a few NY stores. More than a fair price for such a delicious, but serious, little wine with years ahead of it. I bought three cases in 2022, and I’m almost down to one. It is such an easy bottle to grab.

6 pack of 13 mg vr for $3660 at benchmark, won’t last long most likely :joy:

$610 per bottle? What do these cost at the domaine, €50-60?

Should we make a new thread of “Non tempting, funny prices to stay away from?”

That could legitimately be fun. Westgarth would lead the way on that, although Benchmark certainly could too.

@JoelD do you know what those postings are?

Sorry, what is the question exactly?

Both Westgarth and Benchmark are not real listing. It’s just an algorithm that takes the cheapest price from UK trade and then brokers it with their margin of 20-40%

It’s why Westgarth and Benchmark in this example have insane prices because they don’t throttle it. Just price x margin. So if a BBR client decided to sell Gibourg Vosne at 1000 a bottle. All of a sudden “becomes” 1500 a bottle. It’s the problem with have accurate data points on WS. Benchmark just recently started. But it’s Westgarths entire model. They don’t own the inventory and when you pay, they aren’t technically in possession. A lot of people don’t know this.

Thanks. Good details to have. I definitely knew about them not owning the wines and just brokering them from in bond. But I did not know that they were algo based and automatic.

However, there are plenty of non pre-arrival Benchmark listings that are through the roof just because they were probably the only W-S listing at the time.

As far as Westgarth goes, I would question whether there is actually a set markup on the algo. When they are the only W-S listing, it seems to be much higher than when they are competing. Unless there is a setting for that?
