Tempting wine purchases you’ve passed on—give others a shot

Why do they hate America?

Vivino’s sales affiliate World of Wine is offering Charles Smith’s K Vintners Royal City Syrah for $30/btl for a today-only flash sale. They did the same with the 2018 vintage a few months ago.

You can also use PRE10 as a 10% discount and join their Vivino Premium membership to get $5 shipping, effectively.

All-in, those benefits and discounts yield a price of $36 for a single bottle shipped and ~$365 for a case shipped ($30.41/bottle).

Sold out… very good price

For anyone looking for an alternative to the hunt for LdH unobtainium - try the '19 Bhilar Blanco Thousand Mils. 3 bottles left at K&L on closeout - I took 4 bottles.

My note from a month ago:

  • 2019 Bodegas Bhilar Rioja Phincas Thousand Mils - Spain, La Rioja, Rioja (10/16/2025)
Color a shade or two darker than honey. Nose of honey and flowers, subtle sherry-like acetaldehyde notes, palate is intense, rich, dense, wrapped in harmonious French oak, and slightly raspy tannins like a skin contact wine. A fascinating array of flavors, lemon curd, white flowers and seaspray which mesh into apricot and almond. Again, some sherry-like acetaldehyde notes at the end, but they are quite light and provide added lift. Very long, honeyed, and slightly woolly finish. An oxidative style Rioja that is still very different from LdH. Damn good now, and curious how this will evolve.

14 white varietals, led by Viura, garnacha blanca and Malvasia aged 4 years in French oak. 13.5%. (94 points)

Envoyer has been offering lots of dessert wines recently. Today the 1988 Climens for $100 (fifth) and $50 (half bottle). It’s a great wine.

Wine spies has 2022 Kellley Fox Maresh Vineyard ‘GCS Blocks’ Pinot Noir for $38. I was able to add the promo code TAKE50 to get $50 off and get 6 bottles delivered for under $200.

Yeah, definitely. 59 suduiraut yesterday.

This sparked me to do a search of local shops in Atlanta - found some at Tower for $160 - 5% off if you buy 6(or 10% if you buy a full case!). Grabbed 6, though I’m kinda expecting to show up and it’s not the Gran Reserva?
