Until the release letter arrives in the mail I am not sure anyone will have the info. I do not see anything on the website other than allocations and general info. I believe the extended barrel aged is the estate vineyard which would be Eleven Confessions.
For reference only…the 2009 saw 31 months in barrel.
If nobody chimes in I will comment on the blend etc when my letter arrives snail mail.
The 2010 Grenache is 75% Grenache, 16% Syrah. 2.5% Mourvedre. 4.5% Roussanne and 2% Viognier, from Eleven Confessions (58%), Cumulus (38%) and Bien Nacido (4%).
The 2010 Syrah is 85% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 3% Petite Syrah, 5% Roussanne and 2% Viognier, mostly from estate vineyards.
As someone who has never had a drop of SQN, can I ask an unanswerable question?
What makes these wines so magical? Like, what is the touch (or lack of touch) that the Krankl’s have?
Again, I realize that’s somewhat impossible to quantify, but maybe someone can give it a shot so I can taste vicariously.
2007 Sine Qua Non Syrah Dangerous Birds- USA, California, Central Coast (4/19/2012)
I’ve had many a SQN…but this wine takes it to a whole other level! Decanted for 6hrs…the first thing you notice is this amazing bouquet of florals, and waffs of berry liqueur exuding out of the glass. You can totally tell the 2.5 % viognier in there. The fruit is just jammed packed in there…blackberry/blueberry/raspberry/cherry…all perfectly ripe, liqueur-like. Lavender, white flower florals…white pepper spice, woodsmoke, charcoal…and as with all SQN, in perfect balance. Really amazing the balance he gets out of such a big wine…and the other thing that amazed me was, we had four other wines on the table that you could say were more delicate(aged bord,gc white burg, aged priorat, aged white rhone)…and the SQN didn’t blow your palate up so as to not enjoy those wines as well! Truly an amazing wine! (100 pts.)
Buzz, I think those numbers are for the 2010 Five Shooters.
Here are the correct numbers for these wines (2010 Stockholm Syndrome):
The Grenache is 75% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 2% Roussanne, and 1% Viognier (with a “dollop” of whole clusters on the Grenache), all from Eleven Confessions. Aged about 30 months in oak barriques, only 22% new.
The Syrah is 96% Syrah (fermented with 19% whole clusters), 3% Viognier, and 1% Roussanne, all from Eleven Confessions. Aged about 41 months in new oak barriques.
Shipped in Fall 2014.
I signed up Jan 07 so it looks like I might get an offer in the next few years. I’m afraid I’ll be priced out by then. Hard to believe I’ve been waiting 7 years to buy this (or any) wine!
