SQN Offering now available on website

I’ve been on the list since the Atlantis offering. This is the second year in a row they have cut me out of the Grenache. I’m not pleased at all. No Chardonnay either. I’m contemplating dropping the list. Elaine reached out to me last year after I emailed them regarding the Grenache.

I have been on the list getting wine from SQN since the early days…sometime in the late 90s. I have always gotten decent allocations and I have no complaints. It is one of the few lists i stay on no matter what and buy all that I am offered…and i drink it…no flipping! My allocation for this go round was the 3 and 3 box and 6 of the Rhone varietal white. No Chardonnay allocation but I was able to wish list 3 bottles…we will see how that goes. Just some background for everyone. Cheers, Bob

They made two barrels of the Chardonnay. I think I read that approximately 1,000 people are on the mailing list which would mean that, with 3-bottle allocations, they can only satisfy about 20% of that list.

Interesting that you got Syrah but no Grenache–that explains why there was a Syrah-only option online. Grenache production is typically quite a bit less than the Syrahs. Not that that makes you feel better, but they are always going to have people who are disappointed. I’d be happy to take your spot if you are considering dropping off

[quote=“Mark Rushton”]also got my first offer after being on the waiting list since perhaps 2007? don’t recall really…

What did you receive to notify you of this, in lieu of a postcard?

E-Mail sent and received yesterday from SQN

Another data point - I have been on the list since the early 2000’s. I always purchased my maximum and requested more. My allocation was two boxes of Syrah/Grenache 3/3. Mag set of reds, 3 Whites and 3 Chardonnays.

Anyone get a mag offer for the white? Not sure if they made any this year or not.

Very nice! Just think of all the airline miles you racked up yesterday champagne.gif

They did not make mags of the whites this year - or at least that is what i heard from Stacy.

And Mark - regarding your question of consumption, yes lots of people drink them (i think i pulled 2 dozen corks ish of my corks last year - and that doesnt include wines others shared)

Found a brown card post marked Feb’07. I must be getting close.
Not complaining. Last year made the Next of Kyn list and Chimere the year before.

Wow, with that allocation, how many marriage proposals have you received here?

Personally, I hope I never need to flip a wine like SQN at offering. I would rather offer the bottles to friends at my cost if I did not want my entire allocation.

The FMIIIs of the world did just this for me and introduced me to a lot of great wines many years ago. Will be great to possibly pay that forward a bit.

Maybe it’s your location…who wants to ship though hell? Terrible shipping windows pileon

Big +1

I just got e-mail from SQN instead of the postcard, I really thought I was getting wine! Unkindest cut indeed!

It hurt like a son of a bitch, I tell you…

Yeah… I’m a little disappointed with the email after 7-8 years of postcards, but I also can’t imagine how many must be on the waiting list now.

Something must be up here. The Krankl’s are EXTREMELY considerate of their mailing list……especially their long time members. Could it be you sold off some of your allocation previously or maybe you ordered less than your full allocation in the past? I’d contact Elaine as trust me when I say that the Krankl’s absolutely rock when it comes to taking care of the people that have supported them in the past.

I think the whites/roses/grenaches are clunky wines. Manfred’s syrahs are his best by far, very meaty, lots of glycerin and a good deal of acid. Nothing like the northern rhone, but exotic, slick syrah. Turn the thermostat down and open a bottle.

Cross your fingers, it sounds like the list will open up a little later this year.

"Starting with the next release, the 2012 red wines, to be offered this summer, we should be able to make a decent dent into the lengthy waiting list for once. If your interest is still strong, please make sure we have all your current contact information so that when the time comes (hopefully in just a few months) we won’t miss you. "

This. I remember the last person complaining about their allocation was smacked by MK in that thread. We saw a detailed accounting of how the user who had purchased everything really passed or took reduced quantities over several offerings. That was followed by silence. Based on that thread and other comments over the years, I can’t imagine the Krankl’s would ever arbitrarily cut a long-standing customer’s allocation. I could be wrong, but…
