Sort by unread posts

Is it possible to sort the view of a forum so that messages with unread posts are at the top, with a secondary sort of date of the latest post?

I’ve played around, but haven’t found a way to do that. Best is display by “Latest”, then visually scan for the bolder titles you haven’t opened.

I have started using latest as my main view since it is the closest to the way I used the old software. I wish there was a mark all read feature in that view.

It would be nice if all the threads started with latest post instead of the op of each thread, sometimes 4or 5k, I can’t figure it out!

There are a few posts around that describe how to quickly jump to the end of a long thread. Start here, and see if it helps.

The quick instruction is: it depends on the platform you’re using. On a desktop/laptop you should see a smaller secondary scroll bar along the right side of the thread. Grab that and drag to the bottom.

On a mobile device, find the post counter at lower right of the screen, tap that to open a similar scroll bar, drag it down to the bottom to get to the last post (or anywhere you want in the thread).

Once you’ve done this for a thread, the next time you visit it will automatically jump to the last post you read.

Thanks Alan that helps,I still think it should start with the latest post, but your tip sure helps in the meantime.

Yes, it probably would have been nice if all threads had been set to having been fully read during the import of all the users, if that’s even possible. But that raises its own problems for threads someone hasn’t actually read before. Once you learn the simple trick, it’s a minor inconvenience to scroll to the bottom, and then you’re up to date with that thread.
