Seattle October 8?

Giddyup!

Cote Rotie? Hermitage? St Joe? Cornas?

I’m always happy to drink Gonon (no VV alas).

Whatever you have of those that you think is showing best at the moment sounds great to me!

2009 Gonon St Joe

2011 Gonon St Joe

2005 Chave St Joe

2011 Benetiere Cordeloux

2010 Alain Verset Cornas

2012 Chambeyron Manlin Cote Rotie

Various recent vintages of Guillaume Gilles Cornas and Barge Cote Rotie

I’m leaning towards the 2009 Gonon. I’ve have the two 2011s recently and they are in a really good place but haven’t checked in on the 2009 in a bit. Should be in the zone though.

Syrah is the one area in my cellar that’s lacking. I can find something before the 8th at the store though! Otherwise have plenty of champagne / coteaux champenois, interesting whites (brought back some fun ones from the Mediterranean), Burgundy, Bordeaux, Oregon, California, and Provence.

Always good to have a bubbly to start, and a Provencal red would also slide into a syrah tasting quite well even if it’s mourvedre or grenache dominant, IMO.

BTW, I am flying in the day of and due to land at 4:59 pm. I can head to Peter’s straight from the airport or head downtown to my hotel first depending on logistics. Peter, what time do you want to start? Please also PM your address. Thanks!

I like the idea of champagnes and whites followed by a variety of different syrahs. Glad Adam can make it as I haven’t seen him in years! I was thinking of bring a 2008 Clos Cazals champagne and either an older Cote Rotie (2011 Benetiere Cordeloux if I can find it in my disorganized cellar) or a 2021 Kobayashi Sans Soufre. Please let me know your preference on the syrahs.

My vote is for the Benetiere if it turns up.

I’m free all day Tuesday and willing to start as early as anyone wants to arrive.

No one has mentioned dessert wines, but I have a plethora of Sauternes, vin santos, Portos both tawny and vintage, late harvest Rieslings, etc…
Requests?

Love dessert wines. Not big on vin santo but quite enjoy any of the other types listed.

Only vintage Port would need to be stood up in advance. Are we at that season yet?

We’ve got some pretty high-octane reds on the list, maybe the dessert wine should be from the lower abv end of the spectrum, a la riesling, rather than VP? Just a thought.

I’ve got some late harvest Riesling at very low ABV.

For Provencal reds, I’ve got some Chateau Simone Palette Rouge 2017 plus a few recent vintages of Tempier Rouge. Also have Simone and Tempier whites and rose!

For champagne, I have a bunch of different grower options: Chartogne Taillet, Bichery, Calsac, Launois, and many more. Happy to provide bubbly or something Provencal!

I look older. Heavier. Less hair.

I could probably put my hands on a 2010 Benetiere if we want a small vertical.

So sorry to miss this event. I’m in Florida (again).

I found the 2011 Benetiere. Adam, either the 2009 Gonon or 2010 Benetiere would be a treat. Looking forward to meeting Dave.

Cheers,

Hal
