So I will be attending the tasting Saturday, and most likely will be bringing along a good friend of mine who is just getting into the wine game. Please remind me of the theme for Saturday night so I can plan what to bring?
Nice! The wine theme on Saturday is New World v. Old World. For reds, we are asking that the bottles be from the 2015 vintage or older (at least 10 years old). For whites and sparkling, there are no restrictions.
With you and your friend, that will bring our attendees to 11. Let us know what you plan on bringing and we will adjust the flights as needed.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!
Okay perfect my friend will bring a new world red and I’ll bring an old world red. I can also bring a white wine if needed.
We can bring dessert since I don’t see anyone else doing that.
Sounds good! Here are the wines updated for Mike and Jesse’s bottles:
@Mariano_Chiaramonte - 1 NW sparkling + 1 OW red
@R_Puga - 1 NW red + 1 NW white
@mhgreen - 1 NW red + 1 OW sparkling + 1 OW red
@Keith_Ferguson - 1 OW red + 1 NW red
@J_Cangiano - 1 OW red + 1 NW red
@ErnestL - 1 OW white
1 NW sparkling (MC) + 1 OW sparkling (MG)
1 NW white (RP) + 1 OW white (EL)
4 mature (<=2015) NW reds (RP, MG, KF, JC)
4 mature (<=2015) OW reds (MC, MG, KF, JC)
11 attendees, 12 bottles of wine
Please remind me of your address. I can’t find it in the thread. And 7PM start time?
Just PM’d you.
Another great evening with the south Florida Berserkers.

Well done lads and lasses. I am much mproved.
Looks like a great time was had by all! Hopefully I can make it to the next one!
Great people. Great food. GREAT WINE. A formidable combination.
Wonderful seeing everyone in a perfect setting on the beach and a full moon.
Mariano- thanks for your hospitaility and mad cooking skills.
An absolutely great night. Can’t wait for the next one.
Looks great. I am 0 for 2. Maybe the next one. It was my cousin’s 1st birthday and we had family in from out of town.
Scott good to know you are better.
Perfect evening. Great food, wine and friends!!! Mariano - thanks for everything. Glad to have met new wine geeks who are now wine friends. Can’t wait for the next one. I volunteer to make paella. Cheers
Taking a closer look at the photos this morning, I feel I owe everyone an apology for the fuzzy photography.
But thanks to everyone’s contributions and clarifications, here is a list of the bottles that we had last night, lots of great wines:

2012 Shared Notes Sauvignon Blanc
2013 R. Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Blanco Reserva

Apparently, we have some Riesling fans in South Florida.
Hot on the heels of the Chez Mariano Parrilla Dinner—and in the interest of keeping the momentum going—I’d like to get our next dinner on the calendar. With Spring Break, Passover, Lent, and Season in South Florida winding down, scheduling may be tricky.
There has been some chatter. At our Union Kitchen dinner last month, @jp_trevino floated the idea of doing a Riesling dinner at Larb Thai-Isan in Fort Lauderdale.
@P_Bennett is a fan of both the wine and the restaurant. Over grilled meats last Saturday, @mhgreen and @J_Cangiano seemed excited by the idea as well. We might even get @LisaT to make a cameo appearance if we can gather a large enough group. Would @Robert_Dentice venture this far north of his newly beloved Miami dining scene (or this far south of Palm Beach)?
For those interested, please select which dates may work best for you:
- a. Wednesday, April 9th
- b. Thursday, April 10th
- c. Week of May 5th
- d. Week of May 12th
Fingers crossed that we can pull this off before it gets too hot!
For inspiration:
We’ll be in Chas for April. We MIGHT be able to do the week of May 5, but don’t count on us.
Very sad to miss you but hope your recovery is going smoothly. Let me know if HRH will let you out for one more dinner before you head north at the end of the month. Perhaps we can do a smaller get together somewhere in Palm Beach County.
