San Antonio May 16, Austin may 17-19

Awesome! So we have Max lined up? That’s fantastic.

Once we get a sense of the numbers can start to plan the dinner after. Outlaw kitchen is actually in walking distance but have to bring stems too. And has the most limited menu.

I’m happy to let the theme develop. Like you, I am pretty producer-centric, have a fair amount of Dujac, MG (although mostly NSG and VR, only young GC). I was thinking about opening a Rousseau, maybe 16 Charmes or 17 CSJ.

I really liked Josh’s idea of a Southern Vosne focus, and could contribute a 19 Dujac or Lachaux

I don’t have any Richebourg or RSV in my cellar, but if that’s what y’all settle on, I can make a side quest with champagne, white burgs, Rousseau, and am happy to go along with what pleases most.

The menu will likely be a simple French comfort, family style. We’ll have good glassware, (PC does too) but if you like to travel with stems, go for it!

 haha

If you want to do Rousseau we can definitely do that. If you want to bring the 17 CSJ and Josh wants to bring the 17 Ruchottes I can bring a 17 Beze. Maybe we can do some confuron RSV too, as a different flight?

I’m game depending on what others think.

But I’m also happy to drink multiple Richebourg’s in same setting.

I could bring the 2 riche and the beze if we had wines to keep things on theme, I’m open to whatever.

I’m a casual visitor to the site but am based in Austin and have a Reignots or Malconsorts I could share. Is this open to newcomers?

Welcome!
I’m sure we’ll need to cap attendance just due to logistical and food prep reasons, but I don’t think we are there yet. I won’t be worried until we get to 12-14+ people.

I’m happy to keep a running list in this thread if that’s ok with everyone. Just PM or reply?

This will serve as running list of attendees, I’ll keep it updated best I can.

Current confirmed:

  1. M Chang, +1
  2. Jdurham +1?
  3. JVizuete +1?
  4. Nick Christie
  5. JThomas +1?
  6. Max Mackinnon +1?
  7. A.Z.Sullivan +1

Maybe:

  1. RyanC
  2. Joe_Dulworth
  3. MO (SA friend)
  4. JLong (SA/Austin friend)

Yeah me +1. I think Nick was planning to come solo but he can correct me if I’m wrong.

So this puts us in the 12-14 people range once factoring in the spouses. The large table at AoC seats 14, but it’s a really big table and we can squeeze in some more if needed. And it’s a big room so no one will be too crowded (just keep in mind it’s not a 100% “private” space but will just have people passing through more than anything)

What’s a number that folks are comfortable with?
With 23-24oz per bottle once you get above 14 that’s a pretty small pour. No chance to really revisit.

Also, kitchen is small, so will need some input from Max on what’s comfortable for him with lunch.

Thoughts from others?

I think 14 is a pretty good number.

Yes, as you lay out, aiming for 10ish with the chance to bring a few Significant Others usually makes for a good tempo with wines. I agree :ok_hand:.

I think I’m going to bring the following wines:

2017 Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Beze
2007 Gros Frere Richebourg
2007 Anne Gros Richebourg
2014 PYCM Chassagne 1er Champs Gains

I have already sent ahead my wines.

A Savart Bulle de Rose as an opening Champagne

And then an older Burgundy which I’m hoping to do blind, and I’m most hoping will be in good form :folded_hands:

Both are in my locker and the bottles (especially the elder) look great!

At a minimum, I’m opening the 17 Rousseau CsJ and recently decided on a 14 Ramonet Ruchottes that I bought from Michael several years ago  Thought you might at least like a look at that one. Happy to pull more champagne if needed as well.

Most of my burgs are younger, but the nice thing about having a locker nearby is of course I can pull things depending on what holes we’d like to fill and how the conversations go.

Cool I’ll bring a 14 chassagne 1er too for comparison.
