I think Vint Co is the investment arm and Vint Marketplace is the retail arm.
I believe you’re correct. This business presented so many red flags. I always found it curious that their DC “storage facility” was always empty. They claimed to store their assets somewhere in the Northeast but it was difficult to pin down any details.

It was well outside any preference period and I paid full value for what I received. I’m not the least bit concerned.

I pre-paid for a 4-pack of 2010 d’Angerville Volnay ‘Clos de Ducs’ from VintMarketplave that I got hosed on. $1800 up in smoke.

Here’s my question - vint marketplace not sustainable has proven out, but there are other businesses playing the LIV ex feed import game. Everything I’ve read and my experiences suggest tribeca and Saratoga are reputable. Are they able to get away with LIV ex plus a couple percentage points because they already have the extra infrastructure/logistics and a higher margin in stock business that means doing LIV ex imports are additive even if not super lucrative?
I looked into it, and at least for me, it didn’t make much sense. After the PC debacle, I have no desire to offer anything as a future. If I ever offer futures, I will charge 20% upfront to cover canceled orders.
BTW, wine retail in the U.S. is not a good business.

I have confirmed that there is zero wine located in the US and whatever is located overseas in the UK and France will likely be sold off to pay creditors. So should you have an open order, there is an extremely high liklihood you’ll never see your wine or your money.

Yeah, I would probably try to challenge the payment with cc directly. Did that for my last order with them w/o an issue. Other direction to go would be contacting wine scout, which I believe they sold their retail business to. May have also moved liabilities for open orders…

I never bought much from Premier Cru and stopped a decade before there was trouble, after my distributor buddy told me that they were stiffing suppliers even though PC held funds significantly in advance.
I bought four six-packs from Vint Marketplace, none of which was expensive. And hedged by ordering only one at a time and waiting for delivery before ordering again. I received all four six-packs, the last delivered in December 16 months after ordering. I’d decided long before then that the final order would be my last. The stuff I purchased from them was otherwise unavailable from other sources in the US at the time I ordered.

Unfortunately, there are multiple examples on this Board of being flamed when warning others of potential fraud. Happened last when Wine Connection was going down, and folks hurled personal insults at those who cautioned others.

I think that was slightly different since the guy actually died; not sure he was really running a scam. That all being said I would definitely have disputed charges if it didn’t seem like the wine was ever going to be delivered.

You just made my point that people will dispute the fraud warning!
He hadn’t died for some time and it was clearly a scam for at least 12 months listing wines they didn’t have (I recall it being longer, but it was some time ago), at prices that were too good to be true, charging cards and not returning emails/phones.

I’m not sure scam is the right word, like I said; clearly if the guy was in the hospital he probably wasn’t running the business if it were a one man show. Certainly people shouldn’t have been buying from him if he wasn’t able to fulfill orders, but i don’t think this is the same situation as premier cru.
I’m still waiting for John Fox to pay me back for my undelivered Romanee Conti. After all, he was ordered to pay back $45 million in undelivered wine.
