Retailer Check: Vint Marketplace (Washington, D.C.)

Apparently wine scout is owned by the same company as last bottle / first bottle

Wow, me getting to do chargebacks on missing orders just a few days ago (according to Amex they went through) with Vint, was like, literally, the way that Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark rolled under the stone door as it was going down and then at the very last second before it fully closed he reached under to the other side and grabbed his hat!

Which would make them thr owners of winebid as well

So what do you do if the chargebacks have gone through And now some months from now you get a call from the new owner and they say we have your wines ready to ship ?

I would assume you tell them that you’ve already disputed the charges and received chargebacks and as far as you’re concerned the transaction is no longer valid. If something like this happens, I can’t imagine you will be the only one. If you want the wine, work it out with the new owners and your CC company.

Yes, this is what I’d have guessed.

I ordered a 6 bottle case of Bordeaux futures from them last year. Out of nowhere last week they refunded my purchase with no explanation.

I guess this explains it.

A lot better than the way PC flamed out.

Received this email from Wine Scout regarding the transition:

I am reaching out to personally welcome you to Wine Scout. You have most likely read the email earlier today from Nick King regarding the transition of Vint Marketplace.

Our first priority is making sure that we work with all Vint Marketplace customers who have outstanding orders to ensure that we get your wines safely delivered or placed into long-term storage depending on your preference.

I know that there have been some delays and gaps in communication from the Vint Marketplace team as they were winding down the business. I want to reassure you that your wines are in safe hands.

For those of you with outstanding orders our Scouts (personal wine team) will be reaching out individually to keep you updated and work through your options for delivery or temperature controlled storage. To help with questions you may have in the meantime, we have pulled together an FAQ - which you can find HERE.

Building personal relationships with our customers has been at the heart of our company for over 30 years. Founded as Bounty Hunter Rare Wines in 1994, our business has been anchored by our team of exceptional and highly knowledgeable “Wine Scouts” who bring with them over 100 years of experience in the fine wine industry.

I am excited to showcase why we’ve been the trusted choice for wine connoisseurs since 1994. As an existing Vint Marketplace customer we will be extending you the following benefits:

  • Access to a personal Wine Scout, to support you with sourcing and curating your wine collection
  • Exclusive rates on storage with our partners at Global Shipping Network for those of you looking for long-term storage options, under perfect, secure conditions, for your wines (Click HERE for more information)
  • After we have shipped or stored your current Vint purchases, you will receive an exclusive introductory membership of our Trailblazer shipping program, giving you access to zero cost ground shipping for the next 3 months. (More Trailblazer information HERE)

Over the past 32 years we have built some of the deepest supplier relationships in the business giving our team of Scout’s unmatched access to fine and rare wines. Our home and heritage is in the Napa Valley, but our buying team travels extensively internationally to curate our broad range of wines.

Over the course of the coming weeks I will extend some of our offers that I think may be of interest to you - of course if you would prefer not to receive these marketing emails then you can unsubscribe at any time.

In the meantime, if you have any questions you can always reach us in person, direct from Napa at 800-943-9463 or via email at hello@winescout.com

Welcome to Wine Scout!

ROB ORD
Director of Wine Scout

I got a bit too busy last week and didn’t initiate any chargebacks. I’m a bit relieved as it seems like Wine Scout will be handling the missing orders from Vint just fine. I guess this is simply the risk when I go for the cheapest retailer on Wine Searcher
