I met Bruno Borie at his store , years ago…
I’ve bought there in the past and been very happy with the service & wines I got. Prices seemed very fair to me for what I got.
Anyone had luck getting through to Max or anyone else at the shop in the last couple months? Not clear the shop is open. They’re not responding to calls or emails.
not sure what’s going on, but I’m glad I cancelled my order before this fiasco ensued…
It took me months of chasing him relentlessly about a two-year-old order he’d failed to ship to me before he finally admitted he didn’t have the bottles and refunded my money. I went to great pains to be polite and avoid any ad hominem characterizations, and he still responded with arrogance, rudeness, and accusations that it was my fault.
(TBC, I’d paid in full, provided shipping instructions, shipping address, paid for shipping, and specified an autumn shipping window. Apparently my offense was waiting too long to follow up in his failure.)
I would add that I had forgotten about a handful of bottles at a couple of other stores (Crush, Brown Derby) and had no issues. In fact, they provided superlative customer service. It’s not actually that hard to be responsible and decent…if one cares to.
Rumor has it that he is selling the place
I’ve also been trying to get through to Max about owed wines for over six months. I send a kind reminder every couple of months but receive no response.
I live 10:00 from the store. When I get a chance I’ll stop by and try and find out what I can
Please do!
Max just made an Instagram post this morning, so he’s around…
Curious to know how this has played out for you.
Already disputed this with my CC company and got my money back. Never got a response from them after months of trying to contact them.
What a mess…
His priorities are on point!
I have had a very negative prior experience with him with an unfulfilled order a few years ago. Multiple very nice emails not responded to. Unanswered phone calls. Begging for either the ordered wine or refund. FINALLY after about 3-4 months he arrogantly refunded my $. I thought I would never use him again but weakness got the best of me. I placed another small 6 bottle order this past summer and as I feared, he has not responded to multiple very polite emails just to check the status and ship if available. No response. He was very quick to take my order though. I have no option other than to file a fraud dispute with my cc company.
Sorry to say but he sucks. Lessons learned.
If anyone has a way to reach Max&Co they have some wine that would actually like to buy…pls pm if you have contact info. thanks

Curious if anyone has any news on Max and Wine Connection. As others have said, good guy, small business owner impacted by life — just like we all will be one day or another. I know he has a young family. Hope he’s well.
Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode about reservations. Anyone can take a reservation. The important part is holding the reservation.
Similar story here. Several years ago ordered wine and no delivery. Radio silence. After no response for a prolonged time (I think a year or two) I disputed the charge with Amex and got my money back.
Hi Steve. Did you ever make it by the store? I imagine you would have posted if so, but thought I’d double check.
