Restaurant.com Promo Codes

A very useful topic on the Parker board, that I did comment in often.

Restaurant.com offers gift certificates to restaurants at HUGE savings. Through Sept 13th, you can get $25 ones for $1 (90% off). Promo code is
NINETY

No affiliation, just a happy customer!

Wow, fantastic!

I’m going to check it out now.

EDIT: Picked up four $25 gift certificates for local restaurants - nice work!

The current deal is crazy. Got $150 worth of coupons for $6.
Works if there are places near you that you visit/frequent.

Updated (self-deleted) at Posner’s request.
I appreciate the well-intended feedback!

I have used the gift certificates before, and they work just fine. You do have to spend more than the certificate is worth (typically $35 for a $25 gift certificate, and it does not include alcohol, of course) but that means a nice cheap meal - two people for $10 at a decent restaurant? Sign me up!

Mitch

I have not checked your links, but I have been using Restaurant.com for 2 years, with no issues.

Just follow the instructions…

I once used a $100 certificate, I think it cost me $8!

Posner - do they have one for Kittle House? [wink.gif]

I wish!

Mitch

I read those links, you should take them down. Those people are idiots.

One complains that no certificates came in the mail (you print them online) and the other complains about the terms, which they did not wish to follow.

I hope you delete your post.

Looks like the website is taking some hits today. I found a coupon for a very good sushi place in town, but alas when I try to purchase, I get an error that the page is not found.

Depends on the place. Many do not have that exclusion.

Of couse, that raises the question of why any place does have the exclusion. The markup on alcohol is huge. Why do they care if you use the certificate to drink instead of order food. There is probably more profit in it for them if you use the $$ on drinks instead of more food.

PS. I have been using the certificates for about 6 months and have never had a problem with them. I got the email yesterday and bought $470 worth for just under $20. [basic-smile.gif]

You are correct on both counts, Bruce. Some do allow it, and most (or all) should, as they stand to more easily make up for the discount in the huge profit margins in the alcohol, plus, there is a greater chance of riding up the bill.

Thank you for posting. I’m perusing the list right now. They have Campagnola listed – I’ve never been, but I know a group of West L.A.’ers frequent that joint for OL’s.

I should point out that 90% has never been offered as far as I know.

Always 80%.

A no brainer, if you want to try a restaurant. In CA, by law, they never expire.

In NY, they expire after one year.

Thanks for the tip Dan. Now I can finally stop being a cheap-ass and take the wife out for “dirty Mexican”.

Campagnola is awesome for off-lines; cheap corkage, great host and decent food. However, there’s better Italian to choose from in the area.

I’ve used them quite a few times, with zero problems. A very nice restaurant here in NJ, Fascino…accepted it with no issue at all. Yes, only one per month, per restaurant. Big deal. I love it for what it is. I bought $200 worth of coupons…8 bucks.

I told my wife, a professor at a university here, to tell her students. Seems like a great thing to them, given some of the selections that they would probably be happy to go to.

cool … I bought 3 of ‘em … I’ve never done this before; what’s the deal? are the coupons emailed to me, then I print them out?

A timely article:

Can’t you bring a dirty Mexican into the bedroom for her?

You login into your restaurant.com account and print them when you need them.

Very easy.
