PERKINS HARTER - OFFER CLOSED - THANK YOU! ❤ 3L ZIN WINNER IS...>>>

Thank meow you meow very much!!!

And by that I mean to say…wow! What a day!

Order in……when are you adding a Jack Russell to your pack?

Thought I was done, but in for a 3pack.

Ordered 3 pack still, looking forward to it!!

After much discussion, we just couldn’t find an adequate shipping solution for dogs and wine together in the same box. If a solution can be found i must admit that dogs and wine are truly two of my favorite things.

If you have gophers or rats, a Jack Russell will clean them out in a New York minute!! It is in their DNA.

Be well and hope to make it up to your neck of the woods this year.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Oh my…I was just teasing.

During the harvest of 2010 I worked with a guy at Marimar Torres who runs rat terriers - an alternative path he has taken, to be certain. He operates under the name JReed and his Mongrol Hoard: About – Jreed & His Mongrol Hoard I keep asking him to come visit.

When we got to this property there were gophers everywhere. I learned how to set gopher traps effectively and have hand-trapped about 175 gophers off this vineyard since I’ve been here - it’s a humbling part of the journey and the situation is mostly under control now. There are moments when I have my hand up a gopher hole and I’m noodling the trap into position and I wonder about my life choices. You know - being clean and respectable, sitting at a desk and going to meetings and parties and lectures. It’s over. Now I spend a lot of time thinking about organic rodent control. We also have a couple badass barn cats that have helped with the rodents…and we’ve been tilling to keep the vole issue under control. The Eola Hills is rife with rodents, and this is a real challenge in vineyard establishment around here. No one really gets into the sexy talk about Norway Rats down in Napa/Sonoma much…but that’s real too.

Is there a book in this … Cautionary Tales of Voles and Norway Rats?

Yeah…I could write it. I lost 1/3 of my vineyard in 2020 to voles and endured a very expensive replanting. But, as Cormac McCarthy once wrote: “You never know what worse luck your bad luck saved you from.” As such, our vineyard is now much more diverse in terms of clonal mix…and this could mean some additional resiliency to climate change…and maybe even a more interesting wine.

Whoa … I’ve always hated voles but that’s wild.

Seriously, your point about resilience is very good. We really need to shift our thinking to be ready for what comes next - and be open to possible wins as well as losses.

Btw - what breed/s are your pups?

In for the Solera 3-Pack. Cheers :clinking_glasses:

Pork Chop (“Chops”) and Tater Tot (“Tater”) are Australian Shepherds.
