2026 Vindependence Day
Talk about timing! About a month ago we were informed by Yamhill County and the Oregon Dept. of Transportation that the road the winery is on, North Valley Rd., would be closed from July 6th through the 20th for paving, culverting and major renovations in general. While the road is technically still accessible to residents, businesses, and those with appointments to taste wine, “accessible” is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Getting here is currently neither easy, convenient, nor particularly fast.
To make matters even more interesting, we were informed on the afternoon of the very first day that the project was already behind schedule. Work that was expected to completely block access from one direction for a single day was immediately extended for at least another day, with the possibility of additional delays as the project progresses.
To say we need a secondary way to sell some wine this month, well, it actually goes without saying!
So, in honor of the trials and tribulations of living on a rural road that has over the years turned into a perceived superhighway that was never maintained or paved and the powers that be decided to do it in the middle of the busiest tasting room time of the year we present the following packages of wine! Sing along to the song represented in the Package title while ordering up!
Package #1: Red Ink (on July’s P&L):
· The Lowdown: We are coming out of the gate hot! If we are going to have our P&L run red we are really going to go for it here. What winery is crazy enough to make 6 Pinot Noirs from one vineyard site and then take their favorite one of the bunch and put it on Vindependence Day at a stupid price? Maybe just us.
· The Case: This will consist of a full 12-bottles of the 2022 Freedom Hill Vineyard, Wadensvil Block Pinot Noir.
· The Critic: Audrey Frick of JebDunnick.com wrote of the 2022 Freedom Hill, Wadensvil Block, “…is lifted and bright on the palate. More linear and focused, it’s tension-packed with coiled acidity and persistent drive throughout the palate, as well as more citrus. It’s going to age well. 95+ points.” The wine is equally from 100% whole cluster fermentations and destemmed fermenters with a few barrels from a 40% whole cluster fermenter for good measure. The wine is 15% new oak and 50% once-used but you would never know it.
· The Deal: This is like a too good to be true price of $300 all in with shipping!! This wine retails at $55 and in the rare instances it goes out into the distribution network it is invariably far more pricey than that. A case at the normal discount would come to $561 so this is almost a full 50% off and that is with the shipping thrown in! With great commitment comes great discountability! Even Spider Man is in on this wine!

Package #2: White Lines and Roadside Signs:
· The Lowdown: Summer time. Even when these ship there will still be plenty of days that white would be the go to and, for some/many it is a regular staple of the wine drinking regimen. So, the White Lines package allows you to dive into the sunny, delicious and drinkable Willamette Valley Sauvignon Blanc while dipping the proverbial toe into our wildly under the radar Estate Vineyard Chardonnay.
· The Case: 10 bottles of the 2025 Willamette and 2 bottles of the 2023 Estate Vineyard Chardonnay.
· The Critic: If you aren’t familiar here is a recent review from long-time and legendary Northwest wine reviewer Paul Gregutt on his Substack page that gives a nice overview of the whole thing and the specific wine. My Unabashed Love For Patricia Green Cellars Sauvignon Blancs . Warning, if you read this you are definitely going to want to not only get in on this package you are likely going to figure out how to get the Croft and Estate Vineyard Sauvignon Blancs as well! As far as the Chardonnay goes (we are quite non-reductive, just so y’all know), Eric Guido of Vinous.com opined, “The 2023 Chardonnay Estate Vineyard is savory in the glass, mixing nuances of ginger, shaved citrus and crushed nectarines. It is soothingly round and saline in character, splashing across the palate with tart orchard fruits as honeyed inner florals swirl throughout. Wickedly fresh, this Chardonnay finishes with salty concentration and a lifted perfume, leaving the palate completely refreshed. 93 points”
· The Deal: We are offering this up with shipping included at $285. These retail at $28 and $75 respectively. That would make for a case price at our normal case discount of $346.80. That is 35% off of the retail case and you are not paying for shipping! No brainer time!

Package #3: Bluer than Blue, Sadder than Sad:
· The Lowdown: Bet you thought it was going to be the blueberry wine! Nope. So, 2023 is the last vintage for several different bottlings we have done over the years. There are a variety of reasons for this. Some of it was that vineyards sold and it wasn’t really feasible to move forward with the new ownership, some of it was that it was just sort of time to make a change and in one instance it was just too logistically difficult to accomplish any longer. We are still putting out over 20 bottlings of Pinot Noir after the reduction in sites so it is not like we turned into some normal winery or anything approaching it in fact! However, some of the sites we had long relationships with and really loved the wines that they produced. It has been hard to see some of these bottlings essentially just fade out of existence. So, while we are sad about it you can be super-happy because we have a couple of wines to offer up as a package at a crazy price!
· The 6-pack: 3 bottles each of the 2023 Marine Sedimentary Pinot Noir and 2023 Bearwallow Vineyard Pinot Noir. We produced the Marine Sedimentary bottling for nearly 20 years but with the loss of a large chunk of Chehalem Mountain AVA sites and the overall vastly increased knowledge of Oregon’s soil impact on Pinot Noir it was simply time to move along. We happily received fruit from Bearwallow Vineyard (@Kevin_Harvey) in 2022 and 2023. Amazing site. Great farming. 20 years ago I would have been happy to keep at this but given that in 2022 the fruit showed up 2 weeks before the Oregon harvest started and in 2023 nearly 2 weeks after the Oregon harvest ended I decided that I was just getting too old for that aspect of things let alone the logistics of bins and trucking and all that.
· The Critic: Audrey Frick of JebDunnick.com wrote of the 2023 Marine Sedimentary*, “…is a youthful ruby color and leads with notes of violets, blackberries, and mossy, briny earth…giving the impression of both the forest and the sea, with underlying umami depth and brine closing out the finish. 94 points.”* And of the 2023 Bearwallow Vineyard, “…lifted with bright pomegranate, white pepper, alpine herbs and a refreshing feel…it has a zesty texture with angular tannins, bright acid and a clean finish. 94 points” These are both unique and delicious wines.
· The Deal: We are offering this incredible six-pack, with shipping included, for $225. These retail at $42 and $75 respectively. Buying a straight 6-pack would normally be $351. That is basically 40% off retail before you even consider the shipping being included! Come on!
