Pretty mobile will fly into Portland m, but the wedding is in Bend. Will probably spend time in WV and gorge. TBD on coastline. Probably Won’t make it down to applegate, but never say never.
Heading back this year. Itinerary below. I’m browsing all the Oregon threads, but always appreciate suggestions. Also, to the extent folks are around, always love to link up.
Fly into Portland
fav restaurant for dinner?
Going to the coast
Have never been. Seems like we should split time between Manzanita and Yachats. Food / day trip/ stop recs?
McMinnville for 4th of July weekend
Haven’t booked somewhere to stay. Usually do McMenamins or Aticus, but want to switch up.
Hood River
Have a good routine here. What place in the world.
Davenport was my favorite spot for dinner when I visited a few years ago. Outstanding food, great wine list (esp champagne), not pretentious and solid value.
We also love Davenport. There are lots of very good restaurants in PDX so it really depends on what type of food you are looking at.
Manzanita is my favorite town on the OR coast, but mostly rental houses, so you might want to plan a couple of days as most have 2-3 day minimums in the summer. And they are probably mostly booked now. Newport used to do a fireworks display on the 4th, but not sure if they still do?
If you’re in Portland and want to meet for dinner that could be possible depending on the day.
Davenport fan here too. Coquine is great. Ox if your leaning more carnivore. A very nice meal at L’echelle a month ago - nice French bistro food/vibe. Nostrana doesn’t get as much publicity/love as it used to but still a personal favorite. Eem if you want a different flavor palate - white curry with brisket burnt ends is memorable.
I am usually around for one night and subsequently always end up at Davenport.
Some other options: Hidden Creatures, Jacqueline, l’Orange, and Old Pal.
Coquine is always reliable too.
We also will be there next month. I’ve been drinking their wines for many years so looking forward to the actual experience! 3 nights in Portland, 2 in Dundee and three nights on the coast based in Manzanita. Accommodations booked but everything else up for grabs.
Great additions. heavenly creatures is what I assume you meant. Haven’t been to Old Pal but their new chef Tim won a James Beard award during his time at Antica Terra.
As fate would have it my wife and I are also in McMinnville over the 4th weekend. If you (or anyone else local) have suggestions for things to do that weekend would welcome them!
