Not a good start to a busy morning. The glass coffee press shattered, 32 ounces of hot coffee all over the kitchen island, down the kitchen island wall, and into the plug, and then all over the floor. Wife is in the shower, so I went into hyper mode to clean up the mess before she’s out. I know she will find my cleaning, lacking. As it is.

This, apparently, was my month for breaking the glass coffee press. Broke the first while doing dishes. Then, just broke the replacement this past week. Both breaks, fortunately, did not involve the press being full of hot coffee . . . so feeling lucky!

When I think about it, the glass insert to the coffee press apparently is the most vulnerable piece of glass in my home . . . .

There are stainless versions of french presses:

What, you don’t think Alf could break that?

trust that his buddies have suggested this in the past, but he has declined to jump into the fray…one might consider because he likes breaking stuff, and has a thread dedicated to it?

In my defense, the replacement press at our beach place is stainless steel. My wife really likes the Glass versions, for aesthetic purposes only as she does not actually drink coffee. But this time she just ordered the replacement in stainless steel, should be on my doorstep shortly. Now I can only spill it, not break it.

Lost my last Hutte universal on Monday. I pulled the cork on the first bottle if Champagne and while returning it to the table smashed the glass with the punt

Much as I love the glasses I don’t think I can take them to restaurants anymore. I’m thinking I’ll buy one or two for home and a bunch of the machine made GG. Maybe even the stemless version :frowning:

I’ve got an “unbreakable” version of the French press that would accompany us on car camping trips (the carafe seems to have lived up to the billing, but the metal & plastic “press” mechanism has failed on mine and on the ones my best buddy has owned ). I also have the stainless steel version packed away with my camping gear (I’d forgotten about that one, until I saw these posts ).

My husband has yet to break our stainless steel press. It’s pretty shocking actually.

Non wine related and I didn’t take a pic but I had a meat explosion while making sausage the other night. Apparently the shaved ice jammed up my sausage stuffer and the pressure caused the meat to shoot out the top of the stuffer and proceed to stick to the ceiling. Now my ceiling has a blue hue to it after being scrubbed by a sponge and disinfected.

That’s a bad visual!!

It was outright disgusting, ain’t gonna lie.

Have 20 lbs of sausage in the deep freezer though and another 5 to grind and stuff still.

I knocked it off a table in the midst of an exaggerated story fueled my friends and great wine.

I watched it fall and went for the soccer save with the foot. I caught it but still broke when it ultimately hit the floor.

A larger broken piece bounced up and landed on the top of my foot which of course immediately began bleeding.
