This thread is :fire:right now!!!

Keep up the good work, boys and girls!

Amazing, as @ToddFrench recently pointed out, I have not broken anything in a very long time. I feel like I’m missing half of the fun.

Well, my dear French friend elected to use an Ah-So on the bottle he had brought to our group dinner at my house the other night. I have no idea what conclusion I’m supposed to draw here: :joy:

Is François remarkably strong?
Was this bottle remarkably weak?
Was this cork determined to end its days wedged in this bottle?

We filtered/strained the wine and went about our business, lol.

First time I’eve ever seen a white Loire sabered with an Ah-So! Please give François my congratulations. :fist:

It’s all about messaging and packaging, of course. Had that happen to me, of course, I would be posting on this thread and attributing the breakage to the extreme sheer force and torque emitted by my elote physical being. So I choose to believe he broke it by virtue of his brute strength. That is a Berserker!

Did you drink the wine??

Haha, as it turns out @Phil_T_r_o_t_t_e_r , François is from the Loire so this must be one of those French countryside techniques rarely seen outside of the region.

@Robert.A.Jr Naturally, and had I done it myself there is only one version of the story that would have left that room, lol. As it is, François himself would agree that he already has enough legends associated to him to last a lifetime, and we need not feed his ego any more than it’s been fed.

@Dave_McIsaac Of course! Is there any other Berserker way?! We filtered and strained it, and it was actually a ridiculously clean break, so no one was all that fussed about it. Delicious wine for the money.

technically, mission accomplished

OK, so this is not necessarily wine related, but I did brag in the original post that I break anything and everything. Two weeks ago I did a real doozy. There is a landscape island to the side of our house that has heavy vegetation, and I’ve been trying to thicken it up by adding more plants. Now mind you when I say “I,” that means I’ve been using a landscape company. But then two weeks ago I got a hair up my you know what and decided to take a leftover plant and plant it in the landscape island myself. I took a normal shovel that has probably never been used, that had been languishing in a closet in the garage, started to dig, and by the third or fourth stroke - not sure what the terminology is here so let’s stick with the word “stroke” - I cut right through a water pipe to my house. Water started blasting everywhere. I assumed it was community property, so I called the maintenance people and left it to them. And then I left out of town. Turns out they showed up and determined that it was my waterline, not the community water line, so the dummies never fixed it or had it fixed. And nobody called me. I show up a week later And water is still gushing out of the broken pipe. I have no idea how many thousands of gallons had been released, but it had to have been a lot. I got pretty lucky as I called one of my neighbors, who is a contractor, and he actually had a worker on property. Within 30 minutes they had it capped off. I would call this a pretty epic breakage. And I have no idea how much it’s going to cost me, lol.

I’m not sure which emoji is appropriate here so I’ll just type “I’m sorry” while trying to restrain my laughter.

It strikes close to home, as my water has been out all day as a result of the county water department’s break of a water line while replacing the meter across the street. We had a 40 foot geyser going for about an hour. I’m hoping water is restored before bedtime.

The one thing you gotta know about your own house is where the water comes in, and how to turn it off

Well, that’s the thing, I actually thought it was the sprinkler system for the community. We actually still had water pressure in our house. But then, apparently, after we left, it went from a crack or a slice to an outright breakage and then we had no water pressure. But back to your question, or point, I actually did not know where the water is turned on or off. But now I do. But I’m sure when it happens again I will have forgotten.

We know, you have people for that

Interesting that your water supply is plastic. Here it’s usually copper.

You really only find copper piping on very old homes here in Florida, like our old first home that my wife and I bought in 1996, it was an elevated flooring system with copper piping underneath. It leaked all the damn time.

You guys should have lead like we do

That causes brain damage!

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Maybe we do have lead, and I just can’t remember

I did something sorta similar a few years ago. The people that used to own our house had buried a sprinkler system in one of our front beds, which then died and didn’t work, so I was working on removing when we were trying to rehab the beds which was going well, until I removed a “pipe” that was actually the electrical supply to our front light post… that entailed us bringing in our electrician to fix it, which was fine, until a couple weeks ago when apparently it shorted out and dropped another circuit in our house :rage:

Hehe, hoho, (to be fair it was one of my trees that did it, not me) but how about the time I gushed 35,000 gallons into my yard and surrounds without EVER KNOWING until I got the $550 water bill for the month?

Tree root almost certainly got to our main water line, and considering we’re at the top of a slope and our neighbor is down slope, it sure explains why Mr. Art’s grass looked so good that summer…

I’ve got to say though @Robert.A.Jr, you really do have a knack for these things don’t you? :joy:

So two things. First, as someone who also lacks manual labor skills…i appreciate the effort here!

And second…how do i get the image of you stroking your shovel out of my mind??
