Sure, it’s a pretty good price. But there are reliable places that are able to offer it at the same price or cheaper, like Saratoga, albeit on pre-arrival (no extra tariff cost) and without free shipping. Mostly it just bugs me when these kinds of sites pretend like they’re giving you a crazy good deal when the price is essentially just current market price.
I will say it’s a good deal for anyone that just wants a bottle or two.
Yes I agree. The marketing behind a lot of these wine discounting sites can be over the top and irritating. Last bottle and wine spies being the most egregious with it…
Single bottle price is actually pretty decent. Its not mind blowing, but if you have case club with them, infinite storage and timing your shipping is pretty nice perk.
I’ve had the CVC they offered on BD before. Their style is really Bordeaux-esque. Maybe the most of any Cali wines I’ve really had. I’d say that in a good way. Somewhere in between Parker style and the new AFWE craze of making borderline underripe cabs. They probably are going to be long lived and generally enjoyable wines and at that price…well, can’t do much better. Just depends if that’s what you want.
So some nice fruit but not a fruit bomb. Personally, I’m a big Washington State Cabernet fan, which I find leans more to medium body with more subtlety than Cali. It sounds like this wine might fit a Washington state profile nicely. And at $24.99, tough to go wrong.
Thanks for the tip. Do you know when the code expires?
Is everyone aware that you can search the entire WTSO store including some “hidden” wines using the word ‘all’ ? I’m doing this today to see if I can find $100 worth of purchases to make.
Yeah, probably will be your style. More garagiste hate for me. I asked them to sub a long pre-arrival for a huge heavy cab and they sent me Va Piano Rosebud (WA). It was the most red fruited middle of the road cab you could imagine. You’d probably love it. I think they have Va Piano on the site as well right now. That said, they don’t even know the fruit profiles of the wines they carry.
I love Va Piano wine. About a year ago, WTSO offered a Syrah, the Rosebud Cab and a Dubrul Cab. I bought them all, but bought more of the Dubrul because it carried a dark fruit description. So good.
This is good to know. I’ll keep my mental flag on a dubrul. Not like the rosebud was a bad wine, but when you want dark fruit and you get red fruit, it is surprising, especially when you’ve gotten a direct recommendation from a wine purveyor. In @JDutko I trust now.
