What’s amazing to me is the Carlsbad store is WAY better than the Laugna Nigel. You’d think they’d stock the heck out of the OC one. Not the case.
Thanks for those tips - I had not known about those ones being better.
The Costco in Los Alamitos/Cypress is usually pretty good. I’ve seen produttori, damilano, some $20-40 bordeaux, etc there.
Shoot me a PM if you see Produttori at Cypress!
Will do, haven’t seen Produttori for a year or so, but every time I go I walk by the wines just to see if there are any surprises.
They had some good Champs last week-saw krug, dom, clicquot
Scottsdale, Hawaii, West Plano are the top three in USA for crazy offerings. Carlsbad and Redwood City buy a lot of crazy things too.
Wife picked up a 2011 Avignonesi Grande Annate for $57 today at the West Plano store. She said they have a few more bottles. Marked down from $90
Just picked up some 2012 Produttori - $25.99 at Richmond, CA
Went to the Boca Raton, FL store for the first time today, and unfortunately, the wine selection was uninspiring. I picked up a couple inexpensive Spanish reds to try, but I really was hoping for better. I live most of the year in NJ, where our local Costco does not sell wine, so I was excited to finally get to see what I always read about here. Bummer.
We just bought a bunch at Costco and are tasting our way through them to see what we might repurchase. So far:
'14 Seaside Pinot $10. Screaming deal. Pepper, raspberry and smoke. Crazy QPR.
'13 Kirkland Alexander Valley Cab $10. Hard to pass up. Will buy again.
'14 Kirkland Willamette Pinot. $15. Pass
'14 Erath Pinot. $11. Horrible
'13 Kirkland Oakville Cab $18. Pass. Very sweet.
NV Kirkland Tawny Port. $15. Easy buy. Very good.
'13 Kirkland Napa Cab. $20. Good. May buy again. Dense and could probably cellar.
I saw this at Costco today. At first I thought, “No way is this Thomas wine related” but the cardboard box in the back is actually a box full of wine goblets, so I actually think someone is driving around Portland with Thomas window decal
2013 Elizabeth Spencer Special Cuvee Napa available at W Plano for $28.49/per.
Just opened the `15 CdR Villages. Think it is rather on the thin side, “pretty average” from across the table.Has some good acidity, blackberry, plum, raspberry but not that complex.
Think needs time to open up so will put aside till food is up.
Hi me agin! Sure needed some time to open up, more complexity after around 2 hrs and a hint of some ripe fruit. Have some left for next day, very enjoyable.
isn’t it ~$7 or so? I mean… even ‘above average’ for that price is already good QPR
Just picked up some 2012 Produttori - $25.99 at Richmond, CA
Just picked up some of the 2013 Produttori Barbaresco for $26/per at Costco on 4th in Seattle. Good, but not great, price.

2012 Chateau Fombrauge at the Sherman Oaks, CA location for $21/per.
My Costco just slashed the price on 2012 Conn Creek Napa Valley Cabernet to $9.97.
Bought two bottles, tried one and then went back for four more.
Very nice value cab at that price, if a little generic. The Dry Creek Vineyards CS sold at this Costco is a more interesting bottle at $18, but had to pick up a few at this price.
I’m realizing that this is the role Costco plays in my wine drinking life–provider of overachieving very cheap bottles.
Costco Simi Valley had Chateau Suduiraut Lions de Suduiraut Sauternes for $9.99. Curious so I bought one. If it’s good, I hope they have more at that price.

You say that like it’s a bad thing…
Been able to get a few deals on wine SKUs that various Costcos have been price slashing. Best haul was 5 cases of 2015 Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir @ $6.97 a bottle. I’d been running low on cellar defenders, and this is perfect for the casual drinker.
