Official Costco Thread

Well, that’s good to hear. Those were two of the wines I grabbed a couple of (along with a couple others).

I’d guess that the closeout prices were on about 1/2 of the Bdx SKUs they had in that location…

I thought that name sounded familiar… Guess I should bring that one next time I BYOB at a restaurant. See what my experience is…

Good price on the Clerc Milon.

Almost good enough to make me want to drive all the way out to Surprise. Almost. Ha!

Lascombes, leoville poyferre and Domaine de Ch are no brainers assuming they are not 2021s.

With the tariff announcement, I ran back to Costco to grab an additional 8 Monsanto CCR’s to give me an even case. I’m going to be loading up on a lot of the 20’s and 21 Chianti’s that I come across.

You might want to swing by the Elk Grove store again. They had a few more, 6-8 in the bin this morning.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I am good though with my 7 bottles. I see some other goodies that im interested in but I may be cutoff for bit haha

The Kirkland, WA store (pretty sure #7 despite being the location of the original HQ and namesake of the store signature brand) has a lackluster collection of overpriced 2021 bordeaux and other overpriced gems. Mouton, lynch bages, a few more languishing leoville barton, heitz marthas, Beaucastel at 80 per, etc.

If you like Bordeaux those prices actually account for the vintage, and in my view, are all worth buying.

Does anyone ever find any deals at the Wilmington DE / Christiana Mall store?

Costco Loomis, CA

2021 Domaine de Chevalier $39.97 (a handful left)
2021 Clos du Marquis $34.97 (a couple cases left)
2021 D’Issan $45.97 (lots left)

I grabbed a few Chevalier. Can anyone vouch for the Marquis? I may be tempted to snag some on the near future if anyone has input

All over the Felsina…that’s pretty cheap Bordeaux?

Wish we weren’t sold out of the Lalande de Pomerol at my local Costco. It’s a pretty decent mid week wine for the price.

I can’t vouch for having had that vintage, but Clos du Marquis is generally a good wine, and pricing for the 2021 is about $60 and up elsewhere.

My wife always sends me pictures when she goes, but there is rarely anything as good as I see in this thread.

Still probably priced about 2x what it should be worth . . . . regardless, good to see customers recognizing the Wagner family’s cynical cash grab leveraging the Caymus brand by leaving it unpurchased at sticker price.

Probably will still trick less savvy buyers on restaurant lists, but I’d wager a fair number of Caymus drinkers won’t notice or care in the first place.

My wife was recently gifted a bottle of the Napa Caymus from a client, and I noticed (like this California designated edition) that it has “bottled by Caymus” on the label. The Special Selection used to have “produced and bottled by Caymus” but looks like that went away after 2017 or 2018. Does that mean they don’t make these wines?

It’s been ages since I’ve had anything from here, so curious to try it and happy that it’s a free experiment.

My understanding is that “bottled by” means they can source finished/bulk wine from within the designated AVA, and don’t need to have any role in growing or production other than blending and bottling. Dropping “produced by” on the SS sounds inauspicious, as one would hope their top cuvee would be grown, fermented and aged pretty much under their control.

The California AVA combined with “bottled by” reads to me as they can source bulk wine from anywhere in CA and blend it to taste/spec/recipe. Does that mean they are sourcing bulk wine from the Central Valley? No. But that certainly means they have the freedom to choose what they blend on a lot to lot basis to meet cost, volume and some qualitative targets.

I’d be willing to bet that bin was filled just before you got there, the brand is a monster, even Bonanza with only a picture of the Caymus truck on the back is very crushing it.
