I’ve been compulsively buying any 2019 Bdx I see at Costco, thought the crazy rock bottom prices seem to be done. Although, that’s a very good price on the Louviere.
Skip Marsalette unless you like fruit forward wines or have family that does…be a good wine for holidays for CA or WA wine lovers.
Gloria is probably a very good wine (though one you should age).
The price is very good but not special. Internet Wines has it for $35 (of course then you’re paying shipping). B-21 has it for $40.
Ooh. I hope the $20 Lilian makes it to the DFW area. That’s a weekend go-to at our house, but we opened the last one this past weekend.
My old stomping grounds . . .
I hear that. I bought a bit more than a case of the '19 at $17, and that was a huge fail because I should have bought a handful of cases. I’m hoping this '20 is just as good. I’ll be checking-in on it very soon (maybe even tonight … we’ll see).
Internet Wines & Spirits (seemingly a spike of conversation about them recently on WB) has the 2019 for $16 and the 2020 for $17 for those wanting more of this and who don’t have it at their Costco.
Let us know how it goes!
I’d be all over the Chorey. Should be delicious and ready to go.
I went to a new Costco near me (Loomis, CA) and they had some wines that aren’t at my usual Costco. I didn’t get any
Following up on this, I opened a second bottle of the 2019 du Tertre last night, and this one was certainly (although subtly) corked. I’ll be taking it back, and with the first two bottles I’ve opened being maybe-corked and then corked, the thought has crossed my mind to take back the other four as well.
This is pretty standard for new stores to have better wines. Then they fall back to the abyss.
The bin above the La Louviere looks like it has Bodegas Volver Tarima Hill Alicante Monastrell. I haven’t had a recent vintage it checks every box for me as a case-buy. Anyone see this in the Bay Area?
The selection in Carlsbad continues to blow away any of the locations north of there. I’m sure there are things some of you might be interested in that I didn’t note. If I were buying, that Verdiccio seems like a nice deal. Lower than anything on WS. Surprised to see Produttori though the price wasn’t awesome. The '19 is still a value at that price. I don’t know enough about the Burgs but stuff like that at a huge US retailer always seems notable.
We’ve consumed a bit of that $15 verdicchio this summer. Not terribly complex but refreshing.
Wrapping-back – quickly – to the 2020 Lilian Ladouys: it’s good, and worth the $20. I think it’s not as good as the '19; the '20 feels heavier and not as delineated as the '19. Whereas I regret not buying a couple cases more of the '19, I’m not so sure I’ll buy another bottle of the '20 — admittedly, that’s likely more an indictment of my present need to drink-down current stock than it is of the QPR of this 2020 at $20.
I think the mods should delete any photos from the Carlsbad Costco and suspend the poster for a week. So wrong.
