I drank the '19 over 3 days. It impressed me the most on day 1 but tasted more one dimensional on days 2&3. Strawberries, plum, vanilla, earth, relatively soft tannins, a little disjointed mid-palate . Not a bad wine. 91 pts day 1, 89-90 days 2&3. Interested to hear other ppl’s thoughts…

Day 1 - I’d say this is a good, but not great cab, and a solid value at $23. Nice, fairly restrained black cherry fruit, decent acidity, and a bit of oak, but it’s not overpowering (always my biggest concern with these value priced cabs). It’s fairly hollow on the mid-palate though and not overly complex. Prob better in 6 months to a year. I’d put this squarely behind the 16 but ahead of the 17. Not sure if I’ll buy more - will see how its drinking tomorrow/day 2.

You are much kinder than I, re: the 2019 Stags Leap Cab. I found it to be like fruit juice and wife thought it smelled fishy. Down the drain. I suppose it could have been a bad bottle, but either way, not going back for a second.

So jealous seeing what these Costco’s in other locations sell. They sell no alcohol in my county and I was at the DC store the other day and I didn’t buy thing. Thank God we have Bassin’s!

That’s a ridiculous deal. I thought it was solid at about $40 from the Carlton Winemaker’s Studio. I wish my Costco carried Andrew Rich.

For all my AZ peeps, I drove out of my way to the North Scottsdale location specifically to check out the wine…and was SOOOO disappointed! They’ve trimmed down the wooden case section from like 6 to 2, and the place is filled with stacks of $12 - $16 wines (and not good ones). WTF???

I think it’s a more of a regional issue. I believe that the country is divided up into regions that have different wine buyers/distribution (there was a map posted upthread). I have been to many Costco stores in both northeast and southeast regions, including affluent areas, and the selection does not come close to what I have seen people post here in places like Texas, AZ, California and Seattle.

I think it’s both regional and store specific. In the twin cities, there’s a couple Costco’s that have a decent selection of wine and several that don’t have much more than Chateau St. Michelle and Kirkland vodka.

Visited the Santa Rosa,CA Costco today. Way better selection of wines than I’ve seen at my local Costco in Texas. I also saw plenty of the 19 Kirkland SLD. I did grab an Icewine. Hopefully it’s good! Attaching photos of everything else! I wouldn’t mind that 3L, seems a pretty decent deal.

I know Suckling pumps up the points but 943!!! That La Croix must be the best wine ever!!

I noticed that too, but expect broad wine expansion as we get closer to the holidays. I mean, where else are they going to stack those 27L bottles of Flaccianello that pop up every Xmas?

i really gotta stop opening this thread. every time i see all the nice things that other costcos carry and get annoyed at mine that fills 1/3 of the red section with Elouan and calls it a day.

Yep! We were talking about that one a little further back on the thread. Decent vintage but I didn’t love it. I put it way behind the 2016 but in front of the 17.

Not much new or exciting here in San Luis Obispo recently. Two bottles of 2019 Esprit Gassier Provence Rosé at $9.99 were all I picked up today.

Multi-thread cross-over note: They did have bottles of 2016 M. Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Bernardine marked down to $29.99/bottle…with an asterisk.
