Yeah, I was only allowed to buy 3 bottles I’m afraid. There’s always next time!
I stopped in the Dallas location today and they had the 2016 Kirkland Signature Barolo for $19.99. The 2015 was terrific for the price and I’ve consumed more than a full case of that one. Both are apparently made by Fontanafredda (or at least by the winemaker at Fontanafredda, whose signature is on the cork). Unfortunately, they only had 8 bottles in the bins (and none underneath), but I grabbed all of them, and presumably more will show up here or at the other nearby locations. I hope to try a bottle, maybe even side by side with the '15, to see if it’s worth driving around to the other stores in search of more. Sub $20 Barolo that’s balanced and pleasant to drink, even if it’s not exceptional or exciting, is hard to find and I have a strong need for these kinds of wine for weeknight drinking with a steak or other hearty fare.
Have you tried the 2016 yet? I picked one up the other day to try - let it breathe for about an hour and was impressed. Kinda crazy QPR. Will go back and get more for sure.
Anyone have knowledge of the Bozeman, MT location? We’re considering planning a post covid trip to Yellowstone and (like everyone here) prefer to line out the local wine retailing options ahead of time.
Thanks for any assistance!
No information on the Cosco, but Bozeman appears to have some decent wine shops. Also, over the past ten years we’ve stopped in Bozeman on trips to Glacier NP or through Montana to other destinations and we’ve alway enjoyed breakfast at the Nova Cafe, and we’ve had really good Italian dinners at the Blacksmith. Also, good bison steak at Ted’s Montana Steakhouse.
Thanks, Terry. Much appreciated. Not sure if we will be doing much in Bozeman proper. It’s our airport gateway, so I am considering the options for loading up on “nicessities” before heading off into the wilderness.

Yes, I’ve had the '16 and agree that it’s a great QPR for under $20. I still hope to try it side by side with the '15, but my initial impression (relying on memory of the '15) is that the '16 has more freshness, fruit and an herbal character whereas the '15 has more of a savory, soy and balsamic character. That could easily just be the additional year in bottle that the '15 has…In any event, both are great value wines.
Found 2017 Don Melchor at my Costco for $70/bottle. I usually see this around $100/bottle.
2018 Beau Vigne CULT cab released at $150/btl is being sold for $28.99. They had a pallet of it

I saw that at our Costco the other day, with the name CULT boldly on the label I walked right past it and didn’t give it another thought. Is this good?

I grabbed 3 and opened one as soon as I got home. Its still unwinding in my glass. I dont know that its a $150 bottle but it is clearly well made and quality fruit. For under $30 a no brainer to grab a bottle, drink over a couple days and decide whether to grab more

I still have a couple of the 15’s.
When I first tried the 15, I thought it was full and more heavy bodied than what you would expect.
My friend Eric said 15 was a hot vintage and that’s why it was like that.
The 16, OTOH, was much more elegant than the 15.
Not necessarily better…but more like you would expect a Barolo to be.
Both are very good for 19.99
Stocked up.

good price… the Boca Costco used to have it at 79.

Be advised there are two labels with “CULT” on them. One is $100+ from Beau Vigne and the other is simply The Cult for $20-30.
Fortunately I have not forgotten how to read
Looks like someone sent out the wrong Cult…
KL had them for $40 …

There is an interesting comment on the Vivino page wondering if this is the true Cult bottling.
Story I’ve read is Venge started the wine and Fayard blended the wine.
What location was this? Great deal if we are not getting it confused with another wine.

Reno store had CULT today @ $28.99 as well. Seems like this will not be my style but willing to try to prove myself wrong at that price
Costco in Carlsbad CA but seems to be lots of places

Try it over a few days. I like it much better day 2. Really seems to need time
