Iām yet to go to the Sparks location but Iāve heard itās usually pretty poor. The Reno location has been decent. The couple recent JJ Prum deals have been excellent. Usually a $36+. Looked like there was a reload on the 18 Sojourn Gaps Crown Chard @ $29.99 as well as 17 Riddle Pinot @ $39.99. Both good to great deals in my book. They also had Williams Selyem unoaked chard. I forgot vintage but i think price was $56.99. A couple of DuMolās as well. RRV Syrah @ $49.99 and Napa Cab @ $89.99. Might be worth a look
I stopped in the Dallas location today and they had the 2016 Kirkland Signature Barolo for $19.99. The 2015 was terrific for the price and Iāve consumed more than a full case of that one. Both are apparently made by Fontanafredda (or at least by the winemaker at Fontanafredda, whose signature is on the cork). Unfortunately, they only had 8 bottles in the bins (and none underneath), but I grabbed all of them, and presumably more will show up here or at the other nearby locations. I hope to try a bottle, maybe even side by side with the '15, to see if itās worth driving around to the other stores in search of more. Sub $20 Barolo thatās balanced and pleasant to drink, even if itās not exceptional or exciting, is hard to find and I have a strong need for these kinds of wine for weeknight drinking with a steak or other hearty fare.
Anyone have knowledge of the Bozeman, MT location? Weāre considering planning a post covid trip to Yellowstone and (like everyone here) prefer to line out the local wine retailing options ahead of time.
It was some years ago, but we bought some wine there while on a trip. IIRC it was mostly solid but mass produced stuff like Beringer KV, Ch. St. Mich. Indian Wells chard etc.
I noticed that my Costco that carries the First Growths (and Seconds and Thirds) (see prior posts) now has a sticker on each sku that say āLimit 1 Per Customerā in the Bordeaux and higher end Napaās . Havenāt yet tested out if they would enforce it, but in previous years Iāve been able to purchase without limit. No limit on the Screaming Eagle, but I suspect they hold just one.
No information on the Cosco, but Bozeman appears to have some decent wine shops. Also, over the past ten years weāve stopped in Bozeman on trips to Glacier NP or through Montana to other destinations and weāve alway enjoyed breakfast at the Nova Cafe, and weāve had really good Italian dinners at the Blacksmith. Also, good bison steak at Tedās Montana Steakhouse.
