OFFERS CLOSED Thanks for making our NEWBIE experience so special!-Sleight of Hand Cellars (Walla Walla)

Hey Berserkers, You Rock!

We’re Sleight of Hand Cellars, from Walla Walla WA (the town so nice they named it twice) and we’re STOKED to participate in our very first (and hopefully of many) Wine Berserkers Day 2026! Many thanks to Todd, Patrick, and the rest of the WB team for your guidance to help us prepare for the insanity!

"Who Are We? Who We Are” (To quote Eddie Vedder)

I’m Trey, the dude on the left. That’s Jerry in the middle and Keith on the right. We make world class Rhône and Bordeaux varietal wines, along with a small amount of Riesling, Chardonnay, and Rose’ from our vineyards in SE Washington State. Music is intertwined in our wineries DNA (we have a vinyl library of over 3000 albums, a tiny record store in our tasting room, a vinyl club for our wine club members, the best winery merch in the business, and host killer concerts in our Seattle satellite tasting room). I left Athens, GA in 1992 to move to Seattle chasing Pearl Jam (Sleight of Hand is a Pearl Jam song, in case you were wondering). Fate had me moving to Walla in 2000 to work for Dunham Cellars, and 7 years later, Sleight of Hand was launched with Jerry. This upcoming harvest will be the wineries 20th vintage! If you’re looking for some great “press” about the winery we have loads of that! (3 different wines in the Wine Spectator Top 100 in the past 8 years…oh yeah!) We love making kick ass wine, having the most fun (legally) possible at the winery, and hope you find something below that speaks to you! Cheers to you all, and buy away!

IMPORTANT: Since this is our first time participating, and many of you have not tried our wines, we wanted to make sure the offers were EXTRA enticing, which is why we are offering 30-40% off the following selections, along with flat rate shipping of $20 for a 6 pack and FREE for a case anywhere in the lower 48. Wines ship via FedEx, weather dependent, with adult signature (21+) required at time of delivery. We will begin shipping wines mid-late March but we will also keep an eye on the weather across the country before shipping your wines (and you’ll be notified via email before we send). Sales tax, if applicable, will be calculated at checkout. $20 flat rate applies to lower 48 only, AK & HI will be extra. Message me so we can get you the calculation if you live in either of those states! We ship to MOST states, but cannot ship to LA, RI, UT, and MS. If there are any questions that are not answered here on the board or in messages, please contact me at Trey@sofhcellars.com and I’ll get things handled!

BD17 BONUS OFFER #4 - 3-Pack 2013 Sorceress "Reserve" Grenache 40% OFF!

Our 2013 Sorceress Reserve Grenache is a bit of an outlier, as it is mostly from our Estate block in the Rocks Distrct, Stoney Vine Vineyard. Stoney makes up about 70% of this vintage, with the remainder from Upland (a terrific site for Grenache). We also blended in some Syrah from Les Collines (10%). This wine is absolutely in its sweet spot right now. JUST enough secondary characteristics to add interest, but not to distract from the amazing fruit that has blossomed in this beauty! I remember using a ton of whole cluster in this wine too. It was a hot vintage but we made some good picking decisions, esp. with the Stoney Vine, so it is beautifully balanced. We are offering this 3-pack at 40% off for WB17, so grab one (or 2)!

In 2015, Wine Enthusiast had this to say about the wine: A mixture of Stoney Vine (70%), Upland (20%) and Les Collines vineyard fruit, this wine displays reserved aromas of crushed violets, dried orange peel, brown stems, gravel, smoke and peat. Then sweet raspberry and savory flavors float like a magic carpet, showing exceptional length. It’s an elegant, compelling expression of the variety. — Sean Sullivan 93 POINTS

2014 Archimage “Reserve” Bdx Blend (53% Cabernet Franc 47% Merlot)

Our library offer 3-pack of the 2014 Archimage is absolutely something you should jump on. This is such a gorgeous example of a wine with “new world fruit with old world dirt”. This wine is drinking in it’s sweet spot right now with another 7-10 years of youthful exhuberance ahead of it before it heads into its more mature flavor profile! We just cracked one open, and man oh man are y’all in for a treat. Ripe Cab Franc always takes on this gorgeous floral note, and this wine has it in spades. Loads of sweet red cherries, some blueberry preserves, tobacco, cinammon spice, highly perfumed, a touch of leather, a hint of mint, vibrant acidity and salinity to keep it fresh. Just awesome! If you don’t have any experience with older WA State Bordeaux blends, here’s your chance.

Cellar Tracker has some nice notes on this wine as well.

SPECIAL DROP - 2022 "OFF HE GOES" Syrah Les Collines Vyd Block 50
**Trey's Pick: A Very Special Tribute to my friend Eric Dunham - 3-Pack of 2022 "Off He Goes" Syrah (EXTREMELY LIMITED 74 cases produced) 25% off for a 3-pack**

I got my start in the wine business 26 years ago working for Eric Dunham of Dunham Cellars here in Walla Walla. Eric left us in 2014, and I have only made 4 vintages of this very special wine since his passing (this wine was formally known as Force of Nature, but we had to change the name because of some trademark issues). The 2022 Off He Goes Syrah is 100% Syrah from Les Collines Vineyard, 100% whole cluster, native fermentation, and aged in 3 neutral French oak barrels for 20 months. It’s an absolutely beutiful, pure expression of Syrah from this special vineyard site here in Walla Walla (1300 feet elevation). The wine presents with very dark fruits, violets, sage, roasted meats, tremendous structure which begs for some more bottle aging, vibrant acidity, and an earthy undertone. This is for the N. Rhone lovers out there. If you want to open a bottle sooner than later, make sure to give it a decent decant! We only have 60 3-packs of this wine left to sell.

Each vintage of this wine has been HIGHLY rated, including the current vintage. The 2021 vintage was a Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Wine of the year. For our current vintage, Vinous scored this 95+ points, and Owen Bargreen and International Wine Report gave it 96 Points. Do yourself a favor and snag a 3-pack!

SPECIAL DROP #2- Library Enchantess Chardonnay
**BD17 BONUS OFFER! A 3-Pack of our 2015 Enchantress" Old Vine Wente Clone Chardonnay BD17 Pricing is $xxx for the 3 pack (normal pricing is $xxx, so a 40% savings)!**

You are in for a TREAT. The team and I cracked open a bottle to get some tasting notes. We were floored with how great this wine is drinking right now. No oxidation, fresh as can be, and in the perfect drinking window! This Chardonnay is sourced from 45+ year old Wente Clone vines in the Yakima Valley (French Creek Vineyard). The wine was aged for 10 months in neutral French oak barrels (no new wood). Native fermentation, aged on the lees in a fairly reductive envirnoment (which helps with longevity). It’s so fresh, with loads of candied pineapple, lemon custard, fresh honey, white flowers, and a vibrant, rich mouthfeel.

Taster notes from @Brian_Tuite .

Sleight of Hand was easy to deal with. Trey emailed me and said he was finishing up with harvest and would send the wines out the following Monday. Wine arrived Thursday right on cue. These are mostly big wines but what I have come to expect from Washington. Well made in a crowd pleasing style.

2024 Sleight of Hand The Magician Evergreen Vineyard Riesling
Stony mineral grapefruit nose, lemon lime, grapefruit, citrus pith, crushed rocks, hint of petrol. Bracing acidity, mouth puckering, a bit creamy but that is halted by the wet stone minerality and bitterness of the citrus rind. Finish is bittersweet, tart and lingering

2022 Sleight of Hand Psychedelic Syrah Stony Vine Estate Vineyard
Pours a deep dark purple with a black core like Petite Sirah. Funky, funky, barnyardy nose, lots of menthol and merde. I thought brett at first but after a few days open the nose didn’t change and the merde didn’t bloom. Also gives off some violets and roasted meat. The palate carries that funk a bit too, along with ripe blueberries, black cherry and garrigue with a tart/bitter/steely midpalate and finish which is a touch clipped with no tannins to speak of. Interesting take on Syrah, can’t quite wrap my head around it. I like the gamey qualities, just wanted something more on the finish.

2022 Sleight of Hand The Conjurer Red Wine 43% Cab Franc, 35% Cab Sauv, 22% Merlot
Pretty electric purple. Nose is boysenberry, red currant, leather. Juicy red currant, cherry liqueur, spice. Medium bodied, mineral driven red fruit with nice balance, some anise added and the slightest hint of pyrazines on the back end.

2022 Sleight of Hand The Illusionist Cabernet Sauvignon - 85% Cab Sauv, 15% Cab Franc
Neon purple. Another young offering that blossomed with extra air time. Black currant, cassis, coffee bean, blackberry on the nose. Palate of extracted blackberry and loads of spice, tar and a hint of leather. A big mouthful of wine, full bodied and in your face. Mellowed a bit after a couple days but this is a full flavor offering. The fruit, spice and coffee bean linger through the finish. Tannins are fairly tame so grill up some steaks and have at it. A crowd pleaser.

Disclosure: These wines were provided at no cost to the reviewer.

Thanks, Brian!

Hey Thanks Brian! Appreciate the kind words. The Rocks Syrah’s are definitely a “thing” with that very prominent terroir coming through. I also make a wine called The Funkadelic for a reason! Cheers!

Taster notes from @Bweiss and his Chicago group.

It’s great to see a quality-minded Washington-based BerserkerDay newbie with wines that feel both serious and personality-driven. The house style reads New World with a nod to the Old World, meaning there’s a clear preference for freshness, savory nuance, and structure over sheer ripeness through the whole range. There’s something really special here for multiple camps:

  • Old World-leaning Syrah lovers will gravitate to the Rocks District bottling, where the savory, mineral side leads and the fruit plays a supporting role.
  • Cabernet fans who want age-worthy New World expression without “Napa weight” will find a lot to like in the reserve Cabernet, which brings real tannin architecture and acidity while staying composed and approachable.

Across the lineup, the labels are a blast: vintage magician poster energy, a fitting vibe for a producer that balances craft with showmanship. Our group tasted the following wines:

2024 Evergreen Vineyard Riesling

Aromatics: Lifted and clean, with a peach-driven stone-fruit profile. Think ripe yellow peach and white nectarine, plus a light suggestion of citrus peel and wet stone.

Palate: Reads fully dry despite the stated ~2 g/L residual sugar. The fruit sits in a tight, focused lane rather than turning overtly sweet, and the wine stays crisp and linear.

Structure: Bright, mouthwatering acidity (not in the razor-edged, high-wire German Kabinett style), but plenty of snap and energy to make it plenty food-friendly.

Finish: Refreshing and tidy, with lingering stone fruit and a faint mineral echo.

Drinking window: Lovely now for freshness; should hold and gain nuance over the next few years.

Psychedelic Syrah (Rocks District)

Aromatics: Immediately telegraphs classic Rocks District character. Savory first: smoked meat, cured olive, peppercorn, and stony minerality, with wild berries and darker fruit waiting in the wings rather than taking center stage.

Palate: Meaty and mineral-laden with a distinctly savory profile up front. The fruit feels “wild,” more brambly berry than jam, and it stays integrated rather than sweet or exuberant. There’s real complexity here, with layers that keep shifting between iron-tinged earth, spice, and restrained fruit. I’m a huge fan of this wine.

Structure: Excellent acidity for Syrah, giving the wine drive and making the savory elements feel precise instead of heavy. Tannins are present and supportive, built for time.

Finish: Persistent and characterful, with mineral, pepper, and savory notes lingering well beyond the fruit.

Drinking window: Highly enjoyable now with the right food, but it has the bones to improve meaningfully with age.

2022 Conjurer Columbia Valley Red Wine (Merlot, Cabernet Franc)

Aromatics: Plum and darker fruit at the core, with a subtle green herbal edge from the Cabernet Franc that reads more as leafy freshness than overt bell pepper. A gentle framing of oak shows up as baking spice and a touch of vanilla rather than heavy toast.

Palate: Medium-bodied and composed, with dark plum and blackberry fruit, a slightly savory undercurrent, and a hint of graphite. The wine’s texture is appealing through the mid-palate, though there’s a light phenolic bitterness that becomes more noticeable toward the finish.

Structure: Moderate tannin and acidity, enough to keep it balanced and food-friendly.

Finish: Medium length with a distinct iron note and that faint phenolic grip at the end.

Drinking window: Best in the near to medium term. It should settle and integrate with a bit of time, but it is less of a long-haul cellar candidate like the reserve Cabernet.

2022 The Illusionist Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Aromatics: Classically Cabernet in profile without excess. Red and black fruits (currant, cherry, blackberry) layered with tobacco leaf and a hint of cedar and spice. Oak is present as structure and seasoning, not as a dominant flavor.

Palate: Built for the long game, but not monolithic today. The fruit is expressive and clean, and the wine avoids the over-extracted, over-the-top feel that can make young Cabernet tiring. Everything feels measured: fruit, tannin, oak, and acidity all in proportion.

Structure: The headline here is age-worthy architecture. Tannins are strong yet fine-grained, and the acidity keeps the wine lifted and balanced, setting it up beautifully for development in bottle.

Finish: Long, structured, and savory, with fruit fading into tobacco, spice, and a gentle oak frame.

Drinking window: Clearly intended for extended aging, but already rewarding at the table today with the right pairings to match the tannins.

Disclosure: These wines were provided at no cost to the reviewer.

Thanks, Benjamin!

I had the chance to taste Trey’s wines this past Saturday on a last minute excursion to Walla Walla (perfectly timed before BD17!). I messaged him on WB late last week hoping to set up something, and he pulled out all the stops for me-- I must have tasted eight or nine wines, and they were all stellar. Trey was also so kind, and I had a great time geeking out on his wines with him.

These deals are crazy good, and it looks like it will be a yearly insta-buy for me from now on!

Tynan, how awesome of you to spend some time with me in my tiny town of Walla Walla! So glad y’all made the trip, and even better that you got to see how beautiful it is up here on the Upper Left Coast! Look forward to your order tomorrow haha! Cheers!

Just wanted to mention how awesome these wines are. I had the good fortune with a few friends to stay at the home next to the tasting room in Walla Walla during Hospice du Rhone. The 2021 Spiders from Mars was by far the best Walla Walla wine poured during that weekend. You have to love whole cluster, and I certainly do. On top of that, Trey is an awesome host that just dives deep into his musical knowledge, which brings up fascinating conversations. If you do a pick up option from Walla Walla on future orders, you won’t be sorry!!! Awesome tasting room in a beautiful setting.

Oh man am I excited to see you on the board, @TreyB ! Welcome to BD!

Was introduced to your wines waaaaaaay back in the day from a now defunct wine store in PDX, and have been a fan ever since. Wish the store survived as it was the best damn resource for OR PN at the time–and the owner had a penchant for telling the story behind the bottles like few others have done before or since. But at least many of the winemakers he championed are still fighting the good fight. Like yourself! Awesome!

I’ll be counting down the hours till your BD shop opens! Best of luck keeping up with the madness tomorrow!
