I enjoyed Bilbao a lot, but I didn’t get to dine around that much as I was recuperating from a terribly hectic schedule in Barcelona and Rioja. I did get to eat at the Guggenheim’s restaurant though and, while pleasant enough, it was no big deal. I did very much enjoy a simple afternoon at the old Cafe Irvña though. My notes are here.
the entire general area is pretty amazing. and the bilbao story in particular is a great one.
using san-seb or bilbao as your base, there’s a ton to do in the general area.
I am amazed at how much it has changed since I was last there (2004). Need to plan a trip back soon.
