NYC – March 24th Blind Wine Tasting Dinner – BIG, BOLD, YOUTHFUL

@Keith_Levenberg

Keith sounds like a guy I want to meet! Jay, anyone’s politics you don’t like probably sounds like a great person. Keith, would love for you to come to the next dinner. Also Jay, remember, Tesla’s all have cameras around them, so be careful at the next protest.

You would love Keith’s politics. He was Alito’s Law Clerk on the circuit before he was elevated to the Supreme Court. Further deponent sayeth not.

Sounds like an amazing individual.

Thanks for tagging me. It would be great to meet sometime although I have tried to avoid New York ever since Jay’s party legalized crime there. Also all the hotel rooms seem to be occupied by Tren de Aragua. For now. I cannot take credit for the “AFWE” term, which I believe Parker introduced of his own initiative in the course of writing a scathing review of a French restaurant that offended Parker by having French wines on the wine list instead of Australian shiraz. I was, however, the target of another of his epithets. In a discussion thread Parker claimed that there were no great wines left in the world that he had not already discovered and rated highly. I begged to differ and supplied a list beginning with a Saumur-Champigny I considered as good as Cheval Blanc at a fraction of the price. Parker replied that all my suggestions were dreck and that I must be one of those people who like “obscure wines that are obscure for obvious reasons.” The Saumur-Champigny, however, is no longer obscure and no longer cheaper than Cheval Blanc. It was Clos Rougeard Le Bourg.

Great tasting. Probably one of the best you’ve done @PeterB in terms of the quality of overall wine everyone brought. Pretty much no duds. My tops wines were the Black Sear, Scarecrow, Andremily, and Biondi Santi. Looking forward to the next one.

Yes, he was criticizing people who claim to dislike ripe barossa valley Shiraz. Note that he didn’t believe they really disliked the wines just that they pretended to do so in order to be perceived as elite

Ironically, under the original definition even Jeff Leve qualifies as AFWE

Sorry I missed being there to amuse Jay H with my horrified reactions to the wines :slight_smile:

I thought I had the infamous photo from Pratt’s, but this is all I could find:

You should have been there when I brought the 1975 Cos to Corkbuzz. I have another one but Bordeaux antiques is such a rare theme these days.
