NYC February 11 - Noel's send-off party: Great American Wine

It’s been a fantastic 12 months since I joined my first offline event with the local NYC chapter of WBers. Unfortunately, my time in NYC (and the US!) is coming to an end. Come March, I will head to Germany and set roots there, but before that happens I would love to have one last hurrah of great wine with you all.

Theme: Great American Wines
Let’s honor the great country that has welcomed me for the last 7 1/2 years. Bring any American wine(s) that you think exemplifies great quality winemaking and/or terroir. Let’s try and capture a good range of styles. 1 or 2 bottles per person should do the trick.

As host, and because I need to dispose of much of my cellar before moving to Germany, I will bring 4+ bottles.

Date: Feb 11 at 5:30 pm

Location: Corkbuzz Union Square (13E 13th St)

Let’s try and keep this to 10 attendees. People are welcome to sign up for wait-list spots.

Attendees:
@nbri_zuela +1
@PeterB
@Gil_Bauer
@phil.lukeman (maybe)
@J_a_y_H_a_c_k (+1-3)
@B_Caputo
@Tom_Simons
@gavin.f
@Jesse_W

I’d love to go, but none of these dates work for me sadly. There is a Sherry dinner offline (full unforch) on Feb 10th.

If any of these dates work, I’d go: Feb 3, 11. And I can certainly see if my normal place can do a date.

Will be sad to see you leave NYC!

Feb 11 and 17 added to the options. It would be great if that works for others and you can join us.

Looks good to me. I might be able to scrounge up some Great American Wines. I can offer you:

2013 Myriad Elysian Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard if you want Mike Smith
2009 Schrader BTK if you want Thomas Rivers Brown
1992 Dunn Cabernet Napa Valley if you want age
1987 Ridge Monte Bello if you want even more age

And that’s the Cab and Cab blend department. I have a few GSM and related wines as well.

Hi Noel, I can only make the 17th (Dead Presidents’ Day, so I’ve got the day off) and do hope to see you before you head off to the MPI.

Feb 8 is the only one that works for me :<
You’ll just have to fly us all to germany for some naughty Nahe-ness.

Sad to see you go. I am still confirming, but I think the 8th, 15th and 17th work for Julie & I. Will confirm this weekend.

Dang germans. These are tough dates for me, but will try to make whichever gets picked!

Can’t do the 8th but others all could be possible.
Brian

We will try to make whatever date you settle on.

I’ve set the date to February 11.
The reservation is at Corkbuzz on 13th St at 5:30 pm.
I will add people to attendees list as they confirm below.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

I would love to join you. Please add me to the list.

Is there a limit/capacity? My wife, Juan, his wife, my friend Janine who is in Germany right now, other who met you from time to time.

I’m good for the 11th
Brian

The reservation is for 10 people. If you bring +3, that would put us at capacity. I’d like to give priority to people who are on the forum, but we can keep your extra spots in mind (you’d want 3 if I understood correctly?).

No problem. I have mentioned it to no one. Just count me as one and I will fill in holes if no one else wants to come. :slight_smile:
