NYC February 11 - Noel's send-off party: Great American Wine

I’d love to join this send off if there’s still room!

This puts us at 10 attendees. Wait-list begins.

We’re 5 days out from this event. Everybody still onboard?

Also, if anybody has decided on what styles/grapes/regions they’re going to bring, please do share. Trying to make sure that we’re not going to end up with 20 bottles of rocket fuel.

I will bring:

  • 2013 Eyrie Vineyards Original Vines Chardonnay
  • 2009 Dehlinger Goldridge Syrah
  • 2 bottles of either Cabernet or Pinot, depending on what others bring.

I am still in and looking forward to this. I wasn’t sure if we were doing blind so I didn’t want to start the “what are you bringing” conversation.
I could bring:
Pinot - 2009 or 2010 Rhys Pinot Noir Swan Terrace; 2009 Rhys Pinot Noir Skyline Vineyard.
Cab/Bordeaux blend - 2001 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
Chardonnay - 2018 Ceritas Chardonnay Porter-Bass Vineyard; 2015 Rhys Chardonnay Alpine Vineyard

I would be happy to bring any two of those. Let me know if you have a preference.

I’m still in.

Options on hand:

Pinot:
2010 Rivers-marie silver eagle Pinot noir
2010 Rivers-marie summa old vines Pinot noir

Cab and blends:
2016 Newton spring mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
2008 bedrock #2 (cab sauv/merlot/petit verdict)

If I can make it to my off-site some other options are:
Magnum of 2007 brogan cellars Pinot noir Lingenfelder
Magnum of 2009 Peay Pinot noir Ama
2009/2010 rivers-marie Cabernet Sauvignon Corona vineyard
2009/2010 rivers-marie Cabernet Sauvignon Panel vineyard
2008 hayfork lewelling ranch Cabernet Sauvignon

If we want more Bedrock I can dig up a bunch more from 2008-2018 but my inventory of that is not trustworthy (to say the least) and I’d have to just paw through some bottles. However I’m sure I have plenty of syrah, zinfandel, heritage blends, cabs(maybe there’s an under the wire bubbly in there too).

As it’s Noel’s going away and I rarely drink the American stuff happy for you to choose or to fill in some blanks depending on what else is coming.
Best regards,
Brian

Great American Wine: There is going to be so much winning you are going to get tired of winning!!!

Do we all wear American flag clothing?

How else will you blast off to Germany?

Plus between Jay and his +10, it’s basically fated.

Real Americans never get tired of winning.
You should know that, Peter.
Now, go do 5 rounds of winning as penance and report back.

I’m planning (although could change my mind) a bottle of Quilceda Creek Cabernet (classic American) and a Williams Selyem Pinot single vineyard… need to check which vintages I have… both are about as classic American brands as you can get, lots of history there. Would love to see as well: Ridge, Mondavi Reserve, anything else from the Tasting of 1976,e tc.

We’ve been doing 17 straight days of winning and I’m not getting tired of it yet!!!

The spirit of Wernher von Braun wants Jay to bring rocket fuel.

If rocket fuel is desired I can bring a Saxum Rocket Block 2017 and maybe a Pahlmeyer (chard) 2017—100% new oak for a year!
If Noel wants more subtlety I’d probably bring Heitz Trailside '12 and a leaner red of some kind.

Excellent. Looks like we’re managing a good balance and there will be room for rocket fuel and cabs.

Great point. I will check in with my +1, and might source Judgment of Paris wine for him to bring. Also I’m a big fan of Quilceda Creek, so glad you’re planning to bring some.

How are we supposed to taste the wine at the same time that we taste all this FREEDOM.

Must resist temptation to make obvious joke.

We will turn Corkbuzz into a Riviera. We will own it.

Ok I have secured a bottle of 2019 Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon to quench @PeterB 's thirst for a judgment of Paris wine.

I’m so down for an oak-blasted chardonnay. It’s a must for a tasting like this! Up to you on the rocket fuel or subtlety question.

Looking forward to seeing you. All options sound delicious.

People are welcome to offer some or all of their wines blind, if they’d like. But I think we’re mostly going au naturel!
