2023 is a great vintage, I am not sure which wineries he is referring to, however might as well mention them so a proper discussion can be had instead of just stating, go to CT and read the reviews.
Then again, great vintage doesn’t mean everyone makes great wine. 2009 was a great vintage in Bdx, yet some went a little over the top. 2023 might produce similar overkills.
Agreed, but I did not taste any bad 2023 during my trip back in Feb when tasting at PNV, bad blends, but not bad wines. He might be referring to lower quality wineries and given the amount of fruit available for sale then, yes maybe. But for the top wineries, I don’t think this is a discussion point.
Maybe. Or maybe next decade at this point.
What? Say it ain’t so . . .
Cheers
A great vintage does not mean every wine is great - the potential is there, sure, but one still must make a great wine . . .
Cheers
Depends how they were made. If I am drinking stainless vs neutral or new oak. Pretty easy to tell.
Ketan did mention to me last year that he thought a lot of people on the valley floor had too much hang time. Now whether or not those producers are ones that this board would gravitate to might be a different story.
I disagree, but I didn’t post to trash anyone, just a heads up to not buy blindly.
Well, I’m definitely interested in your take. What’s your CT handle so I can go check out the reviews for myself?
Nice try.
Not attempting to ‘try’ anything. You said you had some bad Napa 2023s and directed me to CT to see the reviews. Since there are almost 1000 listings for 2023 Napa cab in CT, I thought you might provide a way to search your reviews. Nothing tricky going on. I’m genuinely curious.
Try searching 2023 and see what you get. It’s easy bro. You added Napa BTW. I was talking CA in general,
I did not come on here to trash anyone especially people who post here, but only to give you all a heads up that buying blindly isn’t a smart idea based on my personal experience.
It’s the Napa 2023 thread, so seemed like no stretch to assume you were talking about Napa.
I get that you’re not here to trash anyone and I’m not interested in that, either. Again, I was genuinely interested in your take on the wines, none of which I’ll have an opportunity to taste before buying. With hundreds of 2023 Napa cabs in CT already - and likely multiples more if you’re referring to 2023 California cabs - there’s no easy way to discover what wines you’ve had and read your impressions.
But I’ll drop it, as it’s clear you’re not interested in that.
Plenty of non Napa producers in the thread. I also think the original thread title didn’t include Napa, but not sure. I will leave this thread now. Hope you find what you are looking for.
I’ve never had Hartwell XX - quality matches the $450 price point? Was offered in the current release but not sure…
I personally think so. It’s from a very small plot on Bob Hartwell’s old estate. If you had and enjoyed any of his wines, it’s a very big and bold representation of that terroir.
My wife and I were members of Hartwell and when I found out Realm bought it, I was excited to acquire some. So far, I’ve only opened the 2021, but was exceedingly happy with it.
Beta.
Outside of The Absurd, I personally find that Hartwell XX is the best wine that Realm makes - just my POV.
