I’m fine with these numbers, for this time of year. I’ll likely be making some more purchases by tomorrow night, but I’ll count those in December.
A thought: there’s more to expansion than sheer net growth, right? It’s about what we’re trying to make of our cellars. Design plans. My focus of growth these days is on Nebbiolo and Riesling, and Pinot Noir. I fond myself trying to balance backfill and new vintages. I think a lot about how new bottles will age, how I plan to consume them. I like design thinking and it’s an enjoyable pastime.

For 2025, I am net +157. That feels a bit high given my current consumption, though the vast majority of the bottles are current releases meant for a decade or three in the cellar. Being in my 20’s, time horizon is (hopefully) not a concern; frequently moving is, however. I’m looking to move most of my collection into off-site storage.
My goal for 2026 is to be net +80, focusing on fewer bottles overall with a higher average spend per bottle.

I’m up about 500 for the year but mostly due to a years overdo re-inventory of the entire cellar.

For 2026, I’m planning to add about a case per month, so targeting somewhere north of 100 net gain for the year. Will be dry in January, and have a couple of cases on hold, so will hopefully get the year off to a good start.
Finally started using off-site storage to augment my little 50 bottle fridge and get the boxes out of my closet. (Un)fortunately makes it very easy to buy without worrying about storage.
+48 to storage in December, 0 out.

The overall idea is to roughly keep this # stable for the next three years.

Also biggest Puchase year so far. Also by a large amount - previous record was 2007 with 364 - but a lot of 2005 Bord that year.
Bought a lot of 21 and 23 Cali. Some 22 Bords. No way I am buying this much next year - Goal is 150 Max!
