Michelin officially does Bordeaux (poorly)

Read on or don’t as it doesn’t really matter, it’s all official rankings nonsense.

FFSake

yeah, that and Ducru Beaucaillou are glaring omissions.

I don’t feel like making a free account so I can be annoyed. So I’ll just be annoyed without looking at their list. [Edit: Okay, I blew up the photos above. Same reaction.]

Idiots! They don’t know what they’re talking about!

This will go nowhere fast.

Trotanoy a one star?

Sigh…

I am lost…best to start buying and drinking some **Bordeaux-type of red ** …from Okanagan galley, BC, Canada.

People are annoyed at William Kelly for perceived conflicts of interest, but this bullshit will be largely met with a collective “yawn.”

I thought the Burgundy one was pathetic. This one shows total ineptitude.

I thought the Burgundy rankings clearly reflected WK’s recent assessments. The Bordeaux one reflects that WK is no longer there, and that his editorial influence has been wiped out.

I thought the exact opposite of the Bordeaux ratings. They very much reflect recent Bordeaux WA ratings

I can’t even figure out if the ratings methodology is

  1. blind monkeys throwing darts
  2. suitcases full of cash

It’s embarrassing how badly botched this is.

Doesn’t seem all that crazy to me.

An absolutely worthless application of Michelin resources. Putting Petrus and Montrose at the same tier will pass nobody’s laugh test. We already have enormous amounts of critical attention to these wines. Stick to restaurant rankings please, those I find incredibly useful.

You think? Lol

The man who has given Conseillante several years of 100 points in a row, similar to LLC and Montrose…

I actually did sign up for the free content and it doesn’t get any better. Ducru Beaucaillou isn’t even in the starless selection, nor is Poyferré. Since organic and biodynamic practices seem to be part of the selection criteria, it seems odd too to completely ignore Durfort, HBL and Ferrière. Oh and apparently Larmande is in the Médoc.

According to the Michelin website,

“Assessments are carried out by professional, anonymous inspectors trained under rigorous MICHELIN Guide methodology, utilizing panel reviews and editorial supervision rather than relying on outside critics.”

Perhaps they couldn’t get an appointment at Ducru?!

I find even their restaurant rankings suspect and, lately, comically uneven.

Pavie also appears to be missing.
