Miami Beach Dining

Glad the event went well! Isn’t 2 bottles for 8 people a pretty reasonable ratio for a Wednesday night? (ducks)

Fixed

I guess but a group of 8 young kids in their early 20s who only ordered 1 bottles is obviously light. I gave them the 2nd. And many other tables ordered only one glass.

You need to get out more

The orange wine craze has spread well beyond than cool places.

I saw this in a very rural gas station in California:

I see beverages that are referred to as Orange wine everywhere. Stopped into a wine store / liquor store in upstate NY and they had cheap bottles of wine that simply labeled Orange wine. Nothing else!

Given your example of orange wine I’m happy to be ignorant of this trend. I do like some real orange wines.

We’re seeing this at all our restaurants. Lots more BTG these days.

I feel you. I am hearing this all over. And in big cities like NYC and LA diners are all on GLP-1s and are not eating either.

I am not the biggest Steak eater but I love everything Chef Carlo does and have had his steak a few times over the years so this should be pretty special. Tonight is opening night!

My top choices would be:

La Natural

Recoveco

The top two are my favorites.

Walrus Rodeo (although my recent meal was not as great as others)

Tam Tam

Surf Club - Not the biggest fan of Thomas Keller restaurants but this one works

Aviv

Ezios

Panther coffee.

It was great to meet you too, and thank you for your generosity, that Emrich-Schonleber was a treat.

The stigma of off-dry white wine been unsophisticated is very strong here (and there is also a sexist component about that), and Rieslings are generally perceived as being a sweet easy wine for people not into wine enough to drink the “real stuff”. I’ve have had first-hand experience with Aperol spritz lovers that won’t hesitate to reject a glass of white wine because “it is sweet”.

You would be surprised how mainstream orange wine has become, even my mother (she is 76) drinks it!

I have not paid close attention to the wine consumption trend, but I can’t help noticing that many of the restaurant that I frequent are working at around 75% capacity that this time a year ago.

You may want to follow this one as well, once in a while we manage to organize an offline

Thanks Robert!

I just booked La Natural, Recoveco, Ezio’s and Surf Club for January.

I know Surf Club does corkage, do you know if the other three do as well?

I have done corkage at La Natural and Recoveco. Ezio’s is new so I don’t know; however, all of their other restaurants do allow corkage.

Drop me a line Mikko always happy to help tailor it to your Miami situation. Neighborhood matters as does traffic and timing!

@Robert_Dentice Thanks for the recoveco rec! Amazing dinner, cool wine, and the pork chop was epic!

Just hit La Natural. The pizza was very (very!) good, but that wine list, oh boy what a joke.
If you plan to enjoy wine, bring your own. BTG they have exactly one option for reds, and it happened to be a slightly mousy red, served from a, well, a water cup.

Pizza looks awesome. The wine… well this is why I dislike most natural wine bars. Poor quality wine served from a glass that does it no favors.

Talk to Javier he might allow you to do corkage. I know they had some good rieslings left over from my event.

Looking for places in or near Coral Gables. Recoveco looks great and looks close enough. (15 minutes by Uber is about how far I want to go).

Might go back to Zitz Sum. Tam tam might be an option if I’m out already in the area.

I loved Recoveco! Cool vibe, great food, fun wines.

Wish they had a more vegetarian friendly option. I’ll likely go solo even though they are close to Fairchild Gardens, which is going to be a stop of ours.

Anyone ever been to Namaste Spiceland? It just needs to be passable, as one branch is walking distance from my hotel. Just hoping for something basic and decent.
