good to see some options around there for a little pre bandshell dining

Big win for Miami.
Sushi Bichi is my favorite pre-bandshell dinning spot, and a 15-minute walk from home ![]()
Great happy hour as well.
FYI - tried going here a few weeks back. Was like a 2.5hr wait it part because the Portnoy dude did a video. Promptly walked out. Will check back in 6 months after the hype dies down.
I went to Krüs last Saturday, it’s located on the 2nd floor of Los Felix, in Coconut Grove, very recommendable.
Dinner last night at Recoveco was great. Doesn’t hit the same highs as peak Boia De and the menu is relatively tights but they’ve got it humming. 4 of 5 dishes hit and the wine list is refreshing for Miami.
Just went to Aviv tonight. Totally good place with high food quality and a good location as Robert notes. The per person tasting is now $95, but we ordered a la carte instead and enjoyed everything we had. This is an easy return for Art Basel Miami dinners.
Had a really fantastic meal last night at La Natural. It was a Resy sponsored Art Basel event with Carlo Mirarchi and James Lowe. Most of what I ate was from the usual menu and it was excellent.
One place that is under the radar but in my honest opinion is delicious is KOJIN in Coral Gables. Great food and amazing service. Very corkage friendly with a small but interesting wine list.
Has anyone eaten at Matador (gulp) or Catch (double gulp)? I have to choose one for a work thing and would love to pick a better poison.
Catch would be my choice for a work dinner.
If anyone happens to be in Miami on Wed (12/17) I will be at La Natural. I have picked a riesling themed selection and will be pouring a 5 liter of Emrich-Schonleber Halenberg GG on me! Joe Beddia has some special dishes. Going to be a big party to celebrate their 5th anniversary.
Yes, l’ll be going at 8pm.
Cheers
No way…that is awesome! See you Wed.
Definitely interested. What time are you going to be there?
I will be there from the opening to the end. I guess Joe Beddia and I are co-hosting their anniversary party. Going to be a painful 7 a.m. flight the next morning
You can get 20% off the Wine Check @MChang
Wine fix! Wine check is Todd’s thing haha
The La Natural x Pizza Beddia x Rieslingstudy collab was fantastic. It was great to meet @Mariano_Chiaramonte in person. I would say Miami diners are slightly more fickle when it comes to willingness to try German Rieslings. The wines paired extremely well with the food. ~3/4 of the guests that did order one or more of the rieslings I selected absolutely loved them which really made it all worthwhile.
Some observations:
- Like elsewhere orange wine is VERY popular
- Guests don’t drink much or don’t drink at all, a table of 8 younger guests barely finished two bottles and only had a second because I gave it to them on me so they would try a riesling, the other was an orange wine
- Had to chuckle that an older patron ordered a red that was a chilled red and sent it back to be warmed up
- Riesling is really an extraordinary pairing with pizza especially some of their white pies that had some heat / spice
La Natural is really an outstanding restaurant with some of the best pizza and pasta I have had. And hopefully now that Javier has seen how well the German wines I selected paired with the food he is going to add a few to the list.
