I have a friend that has been on the waiting list for years
I think the Pinot’s are a bit more delicate than Aubert, but still California, while the Chards are definitely not as bold as Kongsgaard and remind me of a more robust version of Ramey (haven’t had enuf Aubert Chards to compare).
I’ll post over in CC, but if anyone wants to peel off some chards, I’d be interested… thanks
Curious. Last releases appear to be 2017 vintage. So what happened to 2018, 2019 (I presume they didn’t make a 2020?)
Last release to the list was 2013.
I believe the last mailer offer for Chardonnay was for the 2013 vintage with the 2014 and 2015 vintages only being offered to wholesale. No offers to mailer or wholesale for the 2016-2020 vintage from what I can tell. I could be wrong but it would seem to be correct.
To me the Marcassin Chardonnay is unique. I can t say, Well, if you love Marcassin try X . One winery to look at is Arista. Matt made wine at Marcassin for a long time, but does things a bit differently. Another might be Martinelli, where Erin Greene, who made Marcassin in the 90s consults. Indeed, Helen made wine there and used grapes from them.
I still think those are very much their own thing though.
Matt has his own brand, Ferren, and I think those a bit closer to Marcassin, but still their own beast.
I think the uniqueness of Marcassin (until this release) was that they had some age on them. That’s hard to replicate.
A huge part is the vineyard. It’s one of the best sites and farmed meticulously.
Anyone had their check cashed yet?
Thanks.
I did, a week or so ago.
Same here
