Hi all, it’s been too long - we should get together on the Santa Cruz side again! @Ian_Alper and I were thinking of Cavalletta in Aptos as our next destination, on a Sunday late afternoon. Should be nice on their patio out back.
Please suggest a weekend that works for you in April or May. All are welcome!
Thank you all for keeping the momentum for this group, to my knowledge the only public wine dinner group on the entire Big Sur to Half Moon Bay coast since I got interested in such things decades ago. You’ve built a great, underpublicized, resource.
I might be in SF May 11, but if I’m in the area that day, or if it’s on another Sunday, I’d like to join at Cavalletta. I’d bring a bottle or two. I’m 11 months sober, shooting for 24 months after which I have lined up some birth year bottles. until then I pour myself wine and sniff it and am getting good at evaluating wine by sniffing only.
Keep this group going!
George
P.S. If anyone reading this wants a confidential discussion about how to keep wine in your life safely, or if it’s already a problem, please PM me.
Where do you plan on being, South Bay or Santa Cruz area? I wonder if we should do something in promptu next weekend (BYO only places for example), and stick with mid-May for Cavalletta, where I think we need a bit more runway.
We could go back to Golden Triangle in Los Gatos, we haven’t been since last August. Do you have a preferred day and time? They do lunch through 3:00pm and dinner from 5:00pm on. If dinner, it would have to be as early as possible, because beach traffic is brutal in the evening going north.
Ian, I spent Saturday afternoon at Pie Ranch. Founders Jered and Nancy remember this group’s dinner at Mo’s Dumplings fondly. The Ranch of course has been through a lot but things look good there. Except for my barn dance moves.

Sounds like we have a winner. I called Golden Triangle, they’re available to host us this weekend, as long as we bring our own stems. I started a new thread, so we can keep this one focused on the next Santa Cruz area get together. RSVP here: Los Gatos/Santa Cruz/Monterey Group Dinner #13
Does anyone have experience with these? I got the idea while visiting Stevens Creek on the way to Ridge, but I don’t know how early we’d have to show up to get a table for sure.
The county parks are a cool idea. The only one I’m familiar with is Mt. Madonna. I’d be most into one with RV camping which includes Mt Madonna, Coyote Lake, or Sanborn.
