London restaurants

Dinner at Fallow was just ok. It was noisy, lots of birthday celebrations, not very relaxing. We did get a bottle of '13 DP for 235 GBP, which was a good price. The appetizers were meh, except for the mushroom parfait which we all loved. Steak was good and expensive, but I can get good steak anywhere for a lot less

Here are the pictures from CORE which was our favorite meal over the 14 day trip to Amsterdam, Paris and London.

Ten Cases has been my go-to pretty much since they opened for post-ROH meals.

I miss Green Man & French Horn. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Lunch at barrafina was awesome. We went to the Dean Street location, and loved everything. Felt like I was in Spain.

Don’t know Bibi.

Gymkhana is my favorite Indian restaurant in the world. Lunch is a great bargain. Been four times. Book far ahead. They fill up very quick.

(Thanks to Mark Kaplan who steered me there several years ago).

Looks great! Was it loud? Could you request the corner bar? Thinking of doing a business lunch here but it’s three of us!

Going before a show then cocktails after.
The question is Three Sheets or Scarfers!?

I’m afraid I can’t help you with the cocktails–I’m not into bars. But enjoy the 10 cases. If not the 10 cases, after an opera I’m more likely to get myself over to the Uyghur or Xi’an restaurants near where I usually stay.

It was great and the items are well-suited to sharing. There were not many people there probably because it was a bank holiday. I don’t recall seeing any tables, just stools. We were seated in the corner of the bar which allowed the 4 of us to talk to each other. Despite being near empty, they sat us next to another couple. One was American and the other British and after 7 years of living in London, they are heading to Brooklyn. This was there last meal in London and they decided to go here because it was there favorite restaurant.

Great intel! My Britt counterparts suggests it gets loud at the crunch so we’re going to do it another time. Or maybe my wife and I will solo it!

Cheers

If you want to do a fun business lunch at a counter that could accommodate 3, I would suggest Sweetings. It’s old school seafood, no Instagrammers, deeply satisfying. Lots of business lunches there, in my days. Only problem is no reservations, but if you go early, there’s usually no problem getting seated.

Thanks! Couldn’t care less about IG. A positive in my book.

I certainly meant is as a positive!

We found that most of the dishes were sized for 2 people so that would work well when you go with your wife.

LOL I read that too fast and thought it said “most dishes were sized for two people so that will work well for your wife”

She’s a hungry girl

I did not phrase that well, although the dishes were so good I think most people could finish them by themselves.

Any suggestions for a spot for drinks after a show at Royal Albert Hall? I was eyeing Stables Bar.

Are you going to the Proms?

If you have time beforehand, I highly recommend visiting the museum at the Royal College of Music. The RCM is directly south of the Albert Hall.

There are a number of restaurants and bars for pre-show dining at the Albert Hall, and if your tickets are for a box, you can pre-order food/drinks to be served in your box.

I’ve not been in a couple of years (I’m not really a bar person) but the bar at the Kensington Hotel is particularly nice. It’s a couple of blocks south of the Natural History Museum. You probably need reservations.
