LastBottleWines.com (Last Bottle Wines) Deal Discussion Thread (Part 2)

Lol

Would have been easier to just say James Suckling.

Unless I’m confident what the wine is, I never buy any mystery offers. I’ve heard the mystery cases have been rather ‘meh’ in the past

This is 2016 Kapcsándy Family Winery Roberta’s Reserve State Lane Vineyard, I grabbed two during the marathon

that’s no longer how James likes to be identified

Have you tried this wine yet?

Last year a poster on the /wine subreddit bought one of these and did a reveal and discussion of it:

I’m sure the LB usual suspect bottles have changed over the course of the past year, but all in all it’s probably somewhat similar. (FWIW, I like LB - no shade being thrown here, just interesting info).

That was a good read. Thanks for sharing.

I coravined into one of the bottles I bought. I was eager to get into it bc my fedex guy left it on my front porch and it sat out all day at around 75 degrees, out of the direct light. I was a little concerned, but it was fine. Back to the wine… it was elegant, balanced and very restrained. This was a pop and pour but I sipped on it over and hour and towards the end it opened up a ton to reveal some nice soft fruit with well integrated tannins and acid. I’m going to pull the cork on that bottle over the weekend and decide what to do with the remain bottles I bought.

Has anyone received and tried any of the Peake Ranch wines yet, specifically the Syrah’s?

So sad the kids decided to get out of the business and sell the estate. That was my favorite Cave in Napa/Sonoma.

Yes, the Peake Ranch Vineyard Syrah was a beautiful wine and for my palate, a back-the-truck up value at $23. Very elegant and perfumed. Grapes are on the mature, riper side but not over the top and balanced well with that cool climate acidity. Very in-line with what you would expect from Santa Barbara Syrah. High quality and well made. I actually just placed another order with LB moments ago. Seems they are still hanging on to some PR inventory.

Cross posting here, 2015 Cristal for $270 on last bubbles:

Has anyone ever had Last Bottle hold their wines over the summer? I just requested they hold my marathon shipment until fall since it is starting to get hot out around here. Hoping they dont misplace or mess up my bottles.

Curious for an update on your bottle, if you did open it last weekend…

Yes, I did this in August. Everything arrived late November in good condition. I believe they probably have everything boxed up. My current purchases have been labeled and awaiting shipping for close to 2 weeks. With that said, It’s going to be in the 80s here today so I hope it ships soon.

Do they do a good job of informing you when they ship Marathon bottles?

Yes you’ll get notifications.

Been buying from them for years, no issues whatsoever, I give them a :100:. And when FedEx/UPs looses stuff, they make it right.

Short answer, yes. If you look at your purchase history, sometimes the items will be marked as shipping before you receive the notification. In fact, all my Marathon bottles are marked as “shipped,” and the tracking info indicates “label created,” so presumably these are impending. Also, if you have questions or want shipping at some other time, they are usually pretty responsive.
