Would be very sorely tempted if not for the vintage in question and the fact my cellar is bloated like Mr Creosote

Yea. ā€œSmoked…quite smoky…barbecued meatsā€ extinguishes any part of my brain that might be tempted.

I took a chance on them…for that price what the hell. I love their wines and if nothing else, it allows me to have an idea of smoke taint.

The '21 Estate Pinot Noir was released last fall. CT shows only 4 bottles consumed so it’s not surprising there are no notes. There are 24 consumed bottles of the 2020. With that many bottles I would have expected some mention if smoke taint was obvious. I do have one bottle of the 2020, from my Eden Enthusiasts shipment, and I’m tempted to open it for lunch today.

From Vinious- "There is a bit of gaminess and possibly some low-level taint as well here. "

Yeah I’m very intrigued. Per the tech sheet, it was picked the week of August 19th, which looks to be 3 days after the Santa Cruz fire started. No idea the exact location of vineyards with regards to how the fire burned. If you pop that '20 let us know!

It’s tempting at the price, especially if you get free shipping. FWIW, it is still being sold on the Mount Eden website as a library selection for $75.

Given the price, I went ahead and took a chance, trusting that Mt Eden wouldn’t release it if it was badly tainted. For that price I can live with the low level described in the Galloni review. The WE review gives me a little pause, however (I bought before I saw it). Not the end of the world in any event though.

+1 In for a case, no regret

I took this approach, taking a chance on 4.

I opened the bottle and have been tasting over the last hour or so. The wine I’m having tastes nothing like the WE review … no smoked spices on the nose, smoky palate, or barbequed meat flavor … and I don’t find any blatant indicators of taint. The one thing I do note is the finish is clipped and on the astringent side, but I think that could also just be tannins.

I’m in for some bottles. I do understand smoke taint can worsen over time, but if that seems to be happening, I’ll serve the bottles with some Santa Maria tri-tip, where the garlic will obscure any flavors.

Even if just for one day.

First Bottle now has ā€˜15 DP for $229, free shipping on 3

A few days ago LB had the 23 Avant Chardonnay available for $29, with free shipping on 4-bottles…this wine is suppossedly a barrel selection by winemaker Benoit Touqette from Teeter-Totter…Anyone ever tried this wine?

I saw this… I am trying to resist the urge.

Anybody ever order these mystery cases?

whatever points they use are likely from the Gilroy Garlic Festival and judged by Susanne the county Comptroller.

This last one intrigues me, but I have never purchased a mystery case from them
