Last 10 wines you drank. Tells us something about what you like.

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever had their estate cab. I tend to start buying wines that someone opens for me and I like and no one ever opened a cab :frowning:

I’ll have to give it a try.

The Valbelle was the class of these recent openings, with the Alban, Westerhold and Fratelli Revello just a notch below— the rest still very good, but lacking that specialness.

On the road
2014 Louis Martini somoma cabernet (2 bottles)
2013 Mondavi napa cab
2014 Talbott kali hart chardonnay -yuck
2014 Edna Valley chardonnay - better
And an inexpensive 2014 pimot noir whose name and origins escape me but it was pretty impressive and offered good value, even at bar prices

2010 Gonon St. Joseph - angry to be opened, hide it
2009 Levet La Chavaroche - funky cold medina
2010 Clos Rougeard La Clos - archetype, very pretty

2005 Chateau d’Issan - wood
2004 Leoville Poyferre - more wood

Time to pop some more mature stuff, holidays are soon upon us!

Excluding dinners /cribbing the Tooch scale…

2005 L Michel Les Clos **.5
2001 Trimbach CFE (from half) **
2006 Huet CdB Demi **.5
2005 Huet Petillant ***
2009 Guion Prestige **
2012 Hevre Souhat Soutterone **.5
2012 U Colin Les Maillons **.5
(??) Anglore Tavel ***
2000 Baudry Croix Boissee ***
2012 Liquid Farm White Hill **

l’Anglore was probably the most memorable, the Baudry was excellent but we rushed through it, I still am smitten over the Soutterone after about 30 mins of air, and the Trimbach was perfectly nice, but doesn’t scratch the same itch I get from Hirtzberger or Prager (if anyone wants to trade!)

Excluding wine dinners:

2010 Windy Oaks Reserve Pinot – very well made and a pretty wine
2003 Araujo Cabernet – one of the finest California Cabs I’ve ever had
2012 Kutch Sonoma Coast – still a bit closed, but nice
2015 Tablas Creek Cote de Tablas Blanc – ok value wine, but had better
2012 Rhys Alpine Pinot – very solid and one of the better Rhys pinots I’ve had this year
2008 Simon Bize Savigny Marconnets – young, but a fine Savigny and no harm in opening this now
2006 Pontet Canet – too young, but good bones
2014 A Tribute to Grace Grenache SB Highlands – really enjoy her wines
2014 Liquid Farm White Hill Chardonnay – good wine, but could use a bit more acid
NV Henriet-Bazin Champagne – good sparkler for under $40

2008 Firriato ‘Harmonium’ Sicilia Nero d’Avola
2012 Limerick Lane Russian River Estate Zinfandel
2012 Seavey ‘Caravina’ Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
2006 Turnbull ‘Leopoldina Vineyard’ Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
2014 Enfield ‘Pretty Horses’ California Tempranillo
1970 Souverain Napa Mountain Zinfandel

2012 Shafer Napa Merlot
2010 Beekeeper Cellars Madrone Spring Zinfandel

That’s good to hear, I have an '09 I’m waiting on. Was the 07 at a good spot? Any decanting needed?

1994 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin – in fine form, drinking a lot younger than its age
2013 Domaine de L’Arlot Nuits St. Georges Cuvée La Gerbotte – a very promising and already quite delicious judiciously oaked Chardonnay
2012 Domaine Vincent et Francois Jouard Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes – oxidized
2014 Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Croix des Rameaux – I love Lapalu’s style and 2014 seems to be a great vintage. Serious yet with very high drinkability
N.V. Nicolas Maillart Champagne 1er Cru Brut Platine – perfectly nice, toasty and vinous fizz with fairly low effervescence
2012 Bernard Dugat-Py Bourgogne – the shittiest (on the nose) wine I have had in years
2009 Tenute Sella Lessona – simple but enjoyable
2006 Pierre Gimonnet Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Fleuron – a very nice BdB that seems to be peaking early
2011 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett – at least 10 years too young
2014 A. et P. de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise Les Clous Aimé – amazingly nice Chablis-esque Chardonnay from the south

Les Journaries is younger vine than La Chav, so at least to me, is generally approachable earlier, some big vintages like 2010 excepted. I thought the 2007 was quite enjoyable now. Not at optimal drinking window but still damn fine.
