2009 Acha Red (by Mark Herold) CA Tempranillo blend, interesting academically for the most part, only has a touch of Petite Sirah, but seems more like that than Tempranillo.
2010 Bodega del Abad Carracedo - Good Mencia from Spain, underappreciated. Hints of black tea and charcoal, should reward some aging.
2009 Biggio Hamina Deux Vert Vineyard - my first, but will not be my last. Meat and smoke and soy and caramel and while it lacks a little fruit midpalate, the start and finish are so strong you don’t really care. Good wine and better yet, an interesting wine. Unique and I wish I had known about it before. Definitely want more.
2013 Dom. Cartier Touraine Cot - because why not? Not brilliant, but then again, not expensive.
2010 Dom du Pere Caboche Elisabeth Chambellan V.V. - good CdP for at least the last 30 years and glad to see it’s still on point.
1999 Brown Estate Zin - aging but not fading, ripe but not obnoxious, a good Zin.
2011 Laughing Stock Blind Trust - very good wine from British Columbia. Glad to have more. What Napa used to be and what Bordeaux wishes it could be.
1996 Remírez de Ganuza Reserva - for such a clean winery, the wines don’t hold. Stink bomb.
2001 Hétszölö 5P - not the best Tokaji-Aszú, but who cares? It’s Tokaji-Aszú after all.
2008 Hacienda Terra d’Uro ‘Uro’ - crappy year but big, tannic wine that may repay aging
2011 Cetto Syrah - Mexican Syrah. And pretty good too.
2009 Bodegas El Angosto Los Almendros - blend of Garnacha, Syrah and Marselan - still really young, great producer in Valencia
2015 Fevre Chablis Champ Royaux - really good supermarket wine
2013 Damilano Marghe - ditto
2012 Ridge Santa Cruz Estate - uninspired Chardonnay, substandard Ridge
1996 Frescobaldi Nipozzano Chianti Riserva - in spite of the abuse, still drinkable. Suffered through a few weeks of 80 - 90F over the years. About 10 years past, but still has some interest.
